R.I.P. Charlton Heston
Such a quality is hard to find these days.
He marched alongside Martin Luther The King back in the '60's when that was not politically correct for a Hollywood actor, and his contributions and defending of our Constitutionial rights was duly noted while he was a spokeman for the N.R.A.
Actually he was missed when he retired from making movies.
Ben Hur
Exodus
Midway
Planet Of The Apes
Soilent Green,.....etc.

Omega man was another one of his movies (the movie I Am Legend is a remake of it). He was also one of Michael Moore's targets in Farenheit 911.
FAT chance in America 4 that.
When the one world government that wants to raise your kids and tell you what;s good 4 U, you might be glad that in this hemisphere still live the reincarnate of the minutemen.
We really don't need the NRA, I agree.
But we need our guns to keep the faith.
And also for that tasty Elk Loin I have eaten all year long.

Well no, I Am Legend is based on the book I Am Legend (oddly enough). Love the Omega Man, Soylent Green and Planet of the Apes.BingoTheClowno wrote:Omega man was another one of his movies (the movie I Am Legend i[/url].
A forgotten favourite of mine is Touch of Evil. OK Chuck as a Mexican is a bit hard to swallow but he did help Welles get the film made. Love his big screen persona, do not love his politics or love of the gun.

Well, it's not legal to hunt in many Countries, but there ya go. Maybe those not allowed to hunt are the hard-done-by ones.
In most of Africa it's perfectly legal to take an american's 50,000 dolla for gunning down a Rhino. Hell, you can even gun down a Zebra for about $1500 if you're that way inclined. I bet mister Heston was a proud big game hunter. (no offense Charlie, RIP 'n'all that).
You could be forgiven for thinking that gun (& use of gun) mentality, is simply just inbread/passed down, like so many other things in life.

I don't get why most gun control advocates are always saying "We are not trying to guns away from hunters". All the hunters I know use crossbows.
The constitution doesn't define what arms are or militias. We don't have nuclear weapons or hand grenades legal for citizens.
It is ridiculous to have the right to own anything in the constitution. No other possessional is protected.

...and in 'Bowling for Columbine'. Moore didn't half set about him in that one. I actually felt a bit sorry for the old boy, although in this case, he did have it coming. That said, he did stand up for what he believed in.He was also one of Michael Moore's targets in Farenheit 911.
Not a brilliant actor by any means, but most of the films mentioned above wouldn't have been the same without him.

there's nothing wrong with law abiding citizens having arms or defending themselves. the police CANNOT defend you. if you can eliminate guns altogether i'm for it(no guns for the military, police, criminals, or anyone), but that's not reality. a free man has the right to defend himself, to the death if necessary. period. it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about it.
michael moore is a pig. he is a lying scoundrel who shills for the NWO. HIS BODYGUARDS ARE ARMED(but i guess that's ok for special humans like him)......

people in other countries don't need to defend themselves? bogus. they aren't allowed to. if one sees no need for a weapon, let him not get one. FREE PEOPLE HAVE THE CHOICE.
bodyguards of rich people in other countries are armed as well. if they have the right to defend themselves, so do I.
just because you're scared of me defending myself, doesn't give you the right to DICTATE whether or not i'm allowed to, as though the state were my daddy and mommy. that is perversion.

yes, true. but that has nothing to do with all other types of violence. also, many forms of self defense are now called homocide, when in the past, they would not have been(can't shoot a burglar these days). these numbers don't show how many were assaulted by legal gun carriers like police and soldiers either. there are other statistics that show violent crimes going DOWN in areas where concealed carry permits were reintroduced....there are stats to prove most everything.
regardless, i'm sticking to my assertion. joe public has as much right as the queen to defend himself. death threats or not. it doesn't matter if you are scared of me with a gun, it's still my right. if guns are legislated out of the public's hands, it's still my right. ALL men have the right to clean water, shelter, air, food and self defense. PERIOD.

To be precise in most of the European countries there is a right to possess arms, but it is more or less regulated.
In any advanced system a right is never absolute because it's limited by other rights, which are also limited by the first one etc....this is quite accepted and logical. Also, there is no right without responsibility.
The right to defend yourself is a part of the bigger right for safety. Allowing guns for someone who has mental problems is conflicting with the right for safety for everybody, it also conflicts with the very foundation of any right, responsibility. A mental disease causes a lower ability of self control and less responsibility. In this case an advanced society defends itself limiting some rights to defend some more important ones, thus not allowing a disturbed person to carry a gun.
After all nobody would be so fool to give a driving license to a 4 years old kid.or a schizophrenic, even if a right of free movement is recognized ang juridically founded.
Allowing everybody to carry a gun is against the right of every citizen to be safe. Rights are not isolated, they are a system. Things are more complex than B&W.

rights are not a system. they are absolute. as you say, to every rule there is an exception. it's when the exception becomes the rule that something is fishy....
i had alreay qualified "law abiding". even a lunatic has the right to defend himself, so don't pick on crazy people.
obviously, a gun is not fit for an irresponsible person, no matter what strata of society he might belong to, including royalty, the military and police.... responsible people have the right to a weapon, just as they have the right to a kitchen knife.
safety is not a right. that's an imaginary reality. life is dangerous, that's why we need to be responsible. being responsible is not being the state's child. the state CAN NOT assure safety.
