Take out the card, and wash the connecting-areas, the cupper, with some solvent, like
chemically pure gasoline, or alkohol, and reinsert it, and don´t touch the card on the cupper-connectors doing that.
If that does not work, try another PCI-slot.
And make shure the card is all the way into the slot !
The cards are sensitive in this way. Disable internal soundcard if your motherboard has one.
There are other things that may have to be looked at, but do this for starters.

No, this sounds like you have problems external to your Scope/Pulsar card - to me anyhow. Perhaps this is indicative of a Scope board problem, and others will chime in.

Here's my situation: I'm brand new to using Scope with a Pulsar I but it has been stable here. I'm running on lousy hardware, motherboard-wise, but a good PS and an AGP video card. My install is, in this order:

Put board in the system
Stock installation of XP Home w/SP2, not an upgrade install - full install including format of partition as required
Did NOT install sound drivers on the built-in audio card FWIW
Installed Scope
Later, after reading more in this forum, I turned off network adapter b/c used same IRQ

Anyhow, I've not received this message and Scope is working great after doing the above.

Have you checked for IRQ conflicts, checked to make sure the board is seated properly, and other basic reason checks of your operating system/hardware?

Post details of your hardware/operating system/software environment, and check simple stuff like the board fitment in the PCI slot (before doing anything else) as some suggested first steps.

"a communication error with board 0" means that there is a hardware problem and the software lost contact with the hardware. seeing this error once in few months means nothing. reboot and continue. if you see the error more than once, either the card is not seated properly in the slot, the contacts are dirty, or the card is broken.

did you get the card second hand?

I have a dual core, and scope and it works fine, so i dont think that is your problem (?)

I have same Communication Error problem.
It has just started today, first occasionly, now every few minutes running with cubase.
I have to say that I have bought Scope proffesional card second hand.
But it had worked fine for few months.
I had open PC few days ago, but did not touch the card, still it could happened that card is not anymore in the slot properly.
I will check that now.

I used to have these messages and cleaning the contacts and the i/o board solved the problem. I used the stabilant 22 or so, but pure alcohol should work as well.

ok, i have got running it today all day long and it worked fine, NO error message.
Problem was overheating.
I forgot that I have unplgged power fan in PC to check if it will get less noisy.
Now is Fan plugged again and card is working fine.
