TripleDAT LE - won't open?!
Hello!
I thought I'd try TripleLE out today (never used it before), but I'm having problems opening it. I'm sure it's something really simple, but here's where it goes wrong:
*Installed fine.
*I open it, and it shows the 'Registration Of TripleDAT LE' window, asking for an activation key. I import the scope.rgy key file, and it says 'Import Succeeded'. Fine.
*Then it pops up with the same window again. I import the rgy file and, again, it says 'Import Succeeded'. Fine.
*I click on OK, and it comes up with an Installation Error message, saying 'Cannot start TripleDAT (error code 0001).'
HELP!
Cheers,
Chris

afaik it's basically 2 applications - the Scope environment and Cutmaster software
the latter is probably installed within the Scope folder
you possibly may have to install Cutmaster manually
both apps communicate by a DDE process and the pathnames are important, in particular no spaces are allowed
cheers, Tom

Cheers for the help Astro,
I definitely used the default folder name for installation, the only thing I changed was the root drive (it seems to like defaulting to C, but I wanted it on drive H).
I'm not talking about Cutmaster either... I'm talking about TripleDAT LE! Which, as I understand it, is similar to the Scope software and can't be run at the same time as Scope. I'll have a butchers in a couple of days (can't check this evening, unfortunately).
I suppose it's possible that I need to do some kind of manual install — I'm guessing it's something fairly simple that's going wrong, but like I say I can't check until tomorrow afternoon.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers!
Chris
EDIT:
Wait a minute... do you mean that TripleLE actually contains the Cutmaster software, or elements of it? As well as some Scopey stuff?
That might make more sense...
Thanks!

Thanks for your help so far - I'm still not having any joy with this though. I've uninstalled TDat now because I was getting nowhere, but if I can get it working I would be most happy.
Can someone talk me through the install, step by step? I've got the TripleDAT CD folder on my HD (latest version I'm sure, from the SC ftp). Obviously I need to close SFP before installing Tdat, but for some reason it just doesn't work - I've tried a few times, each time using the exact installation folder it suggests, with the exception of changing the hard drive letter to my system drive.
If anyone can help, I would be most grateful.
Cheers!

Hi Gary,
Cheers for the advice - though my earlier posts in this thread suggest I already figured that much out, unless there's something I'm missing here?
I have installed TripleDAT LE fine (ostensibly), but when I open it for the first (or any, for that matter) time, it says 'Please enter your key/show me your key file' or whatever. I do this once, and it seems to think about it for a second, before showing me exactly the same window! Whereupon I, once again, show it where my keyfile is, whereupon it says 'Error - can not open 0001' or something.
I will post some incremental screenshots in a minute...

Hi again Gary,
I very much respect the assistance you've given people here, and your past posts have also helped me along my way a lot. However, I suspect you may have speed-read the earlier posts in this topic and might perhaps have missed out on some of the detail...
Here are some images, in order...
'Tdat.jpg' shows you my keyfile.
'Tdat 1.jpg' shows you the window that pops up immediately after I have (successfuly, I believe) installed TripleDAT, and try to open it.
'Tdat 2.jpg' shows you what happens after I point the browser to the keyfile, as seen in 'Tdat.jpg'
'Tdat 3.jpg' is the window that pops up a few seconds after I have directed the first (identical) window to the Scope.rgy file.
'Tdat 4.jpg' shows you what happens after I, for the second time, direct TripleDAT's file browser to the location wherein my Scopye.rgy file is located, which contains the key for TripleDAT (as seen in 'Tdat.jpg')
Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Thanks!

I hoped that brought you on the right track, but obviously not right yet...chriskorff wrote:... Wait a minute... do you mean that TripleLE actually contains the Cutmaster software, or elements of it? As well as some Scopey stuff?

the names in this process are a bit confusing
TripleDAT LE is a synonym for Scope, i.e. it is more or less a complete SFP environment and installs just like the latter
Tripledat (the one Gary mentions) is the plugin (similiar to Asio, with 8 stereo IO channels) that handles communication between the Triple SFP environment and the native TripleDat application.
the latter may be called Cutmaster today and I would expect the installer to create a subfolder with the 'Triple SFP' folder, possibly named Cutmaster or TDat, and that folder should contain a native .exe application and a few more items.
the file cset.ini in 'Triple SFP' folder, subdirectory App/Bin should give you a hint about the name and location of that native app
the error 'cannot start Triple' may be due to an invalid or unknown path, which includes that the native Triple aka Cutmaster application isn't installed yet.
Possibly you may have to do that manually.
Feel free to ask if something is unclear or post the cset.ini file
cheers, Tom

I love PlanetZ!
Thanks all for your help! I do try my best to give as much as I get, but I still feel indebted to this community. WE ROCK!
If it's not too much hassle, could someone who knows WTF they're talking about have a quick look through this file? NOTE: so as not to confuse my poor little computer with spurious spaces etc, I named the TripleDAT installation folder 'TDAT' - ie. the folder it's installed in is H:\TDAT\
For some reason CW decided that using forward slashes like '/' would be a good idea...
Muchos love dudes!

oops - I forgot to attach the file.
Also, change the extension from *.zip to *.ini
PlanetZ doesn't seem to like people uploading *.ini files
Thanks!

well, not a doofus, but yes, if you have the isa card, it is the dongle.
you either need to install the tripledat PLUGIN into scope and keep the isa card on the motherboard to run triple, or you need to install the original tripledat software(win98 only either way) and also have the isa card.....
i'm not sure if you're entitled to run cutmaster, you'd have to check with Ralf at S/C. at any rate, a new key would be required to run cutmaster and it would be registered to your new card..

oops, so you have the 'classical' TripleDat with the ISA card and just downloaded TripleDAT LE ?chriskorff wrote:If I've only got a key for TripleDAT, as opposed to TripleLE, does that mean I'm being an idiot? And that, perhaps, I don't really have the right to go around installing TripleDAT without the ISA card that goes with it? ...
That doesn't work indeed, and it's not a free update either...
as Gary wrote you can have Scope plus the 'classic' Triple application under Win98 (and only under Win98).
Your keyfile shows the required entry for the Tripledat IO plugin which handles communication between Scope and Triple, but that is in no way related to the Cutmaster / TripleDAT LE edit-recording application

I believe I am a doofus.
I've been trying to install this software from a folder I downloaded (from a Zip) a couple of weeks ago, from the SC FTP. It is called 'TripleDAT LE CD'
I do NOT have a TripleDAT ISA card - I only have one Scope PCI card.
Am I an idiot? It wouldn't surprise me.
Wait a minute - I've just checked, and the funny thing is, the ReadMe file in the TripleDAT LE CD folder has instructions for Windows 2000/XP... this leads me to believe that I'm not being as daft as I thought...?

HA HA HA!
Cross-posting, I think!
Though I'm quite relieved to find out I'm not the only person here on a Saturday night with nothing better to do than wait for an official SC announcement on how Scope V5 is going to save our lives and make us all rich!
I'm gonna wait a minute before posting again, in case someone comes up with a gem (even if it proves that I AM being an idiot - at least then I'll know!)
Cheers!
