Hi!
I had a nice easterwalk yesterday and couldn't stop thinking in basics of digital audio... I have that feeling that I have an idea now about how some things work. Man, I like this logical thinking.
With this post there comes another little appetizer (the idea-head-plan was ready in 10minutes; being confronted with SDK it took 1 1/2 days to figure out all those tricky handlings). Freq-detection consists of basic math atoms in a completely new circuit. It is not finished, but the MP3 shows allready what is possible when pluggin in a guitar and playing above the 12th fret. Mainly I have to work out the correct tuning of the Freq-detector, but that shouldn't be too difficult. I found that math is sometimes something approx in sdk, but it could be my math-knowhow too
Have fun with Gu2Sy

P.S. rightclick on device to open surface
P.P.S. Of course the delay you hear in the MP3 demo is FluLiq
there are a lot of math models for freq. detection;
have in mind that the fast one Mr. F told us isnt as fast as needed for low freq. we need it;
may the Phase be with us
good vibes from vienna
My first idea was to check a bunch of samples for zero-crossing and adding the "yes" values... That idea was a bit dsp-hungry. I'll keep the track, but I have to say that I'm quite proud having solved this just with logical thinking. I have the feeling, playing in another league since some days I'll test some more time-measuring-methods (have some other tricks in mind), but this was the nearest solution.
Logical thinking tells me, that there should be something possible with phase too - thanks for that hint!
That exactly was my conclusion after DSP-hungry-counting.
But I'm not 100 satisfied with the timing, I might get the shot faster... But this Gu2Sy here is still not without counting.
That Fourir thing is a nice track too, but ... yeah, I have switched to long-term thinking after opening that small windows in the last days. I'll try to implement basic idea combined with some basics of that phase thing & some very classic stuff... Maybe there will come lots of bullshit out of it, but maybe I will be able to do a compromise.
I'm not ready, to give Gu2Ba (new version of Gu2Sy) away, but I give you some first impressions... O.K. I'm not a good guitar player, it's just about the sounds.
Hey, someone could tell "I'm a Guitar-player in a Techno band" with this

This is really getting somewhere!!
The guitarsynth I asked for a while ago seems to be around the corner...
Wow...I´m already impressed, listening to this mp3 !
First of all, many thanks to you for your devices and effort!
How the hell do you get it to work???
I've been trying for hours, and I just can't get it to work like I think it should... How do you set things up? I get very inconsistant results. Sometimes I can get a few notes to sound as I think they're supposed to sound, but most of the times, everything is jumping around the place.
This sounds like a super device, especially when keeping electronic live music fun and adventureous. So any insight on how to get this baby rolling?
This device is kinda outdated & I will post the new (the second demo) one when I'm really satisfied. I can't promise, that the full version will be free, but it's not unlikely. This version I uploaded uses a very slow method of frequency-detection. - well the "right" method but with slow ingredience.
My new version is MUCH MUCH more reliable & I'm not completely finished with the detection-circuit. Also the synth I implemented the freqdet for the second demo is a "secret" ongoing project of mine which has made great progressions in the last too weeks ... man, as anything I did made great progrssions!!! ... I'm so full with ideas, but my time runs short again. I will try to keep the track & hopefully even get to a Midi-implementation. But I can't promise anything.

P.S. the device is set up for my cheap Tele neck-pickup, so you might ad one or the other high-damping-filter to use it with another guitar + this version does recognize 12th fret above best! As I said, the new version will be great.
P.P.S. As there are people asking for beta-testing... I will think about it & let you know when there is a time for that!
