Just saying Hi from an old user

Post by RP_001 »

Hi there!

I just want to say hi to everyone on this very wonderfull and usefull forum! Ive been working with the CW/SC cards for 5 years now, and have been using it always in XTC mode till now. I used my minimax and prodyssey in every project together with a lot of native vst stuff. When i bought a minimax asb about 8 months ago, i couldnt figure out to use it in XTC mode, so i finally decide to give the scope mode a try. By countless hours of reading on this forum and by 700 times rebooting my computer in two weeks i finally got it together and since then i am in complete euphoria 8) Wow, why didn't i figure this out years earlier?! It sounds so much better then all of the native stuff. I know a lot of people here said it before..... Bought an extra scope card two weeks ago and a couple of 3rd party devices and i must admit it really works VERY VERY addictive..... With the new hardware coming up and some really cool 3rd party developments i defenitely see a bright future for this great platform!! Thanks a lot everybody, for posting all you knowledge here!! I couldnt have figured it out myself without you help. I'll try to contribute my knowledge myself from now on.... P.S Does Soniccore provide keys during the weekends?? I can't wait playing around with Solaris :)

wait a couple of weeks until xite has been released :D

Also, it's Easter weekend, so expect some delay on key generation, it's done by hand iirc...

Yeah i know, but that's not really within my budget at the moment. So i'll go for the 3x scope pro version first, and when i will buy a house within the next couple of years i will borrow another 3000E extra for Xite

I was going to get another card now but then I thought, if they release PCIe cards soon after I buy a PCI card, I'm going to be pissed so maybe I'll wait.

Rene,

What I meant was: 'Wait a couple of weeks, and see who wants to get rid of his scope pro cards to help finance his purchase of xite...' I bet there will be some.
If plug transfer is easy, and more info about compatibility with certain brands/types of laptops is shared, I for one will be very tempted to get me one and sell my current 36 DSPs. :D

On the other hand, there is also word that Sonic Core might do some kind of trade action... They haven't decided on that yet, so who knows? Maybe it is just one card per user, maybe you can trade all your cards for a discount, or maybe it will be an offer not worth it. Or it may even not happen at all...

What will they do with the old cards in a trade-in? Give them to needy children in Africa?

I'm waiting for internal PCIe cards. They have to update them eventually. The ones they have are so old. When the X-ite flops, they will start making new internal cards again.

...Digidesign does the same the let you trade in cards and they shredder em.Quite clever to keep the second hand market small. Some people thought they would give em away to india for charity..well wishfull thinking never ends.Sc could "maybe" desolder the sharcs..but i doubt that would be cost efficient.

Seems like a good idea the trade-in but usually what they offer is really minimal in these deals.

Not offensive, but repetetive, uninteresting and misplaced.
