Pulsar II and Logic 5.5 recording issues

Post by royy66 »

Hello everybody.
I have been using 5.5 an a pair of Pulsar II for years now and have recently run into a problem. Set up is simple. 5.5 on PC with a Korg Karma and a small mixer. Mics, POD and the Karma connected to the mixer and the mixer outs to the sound card.

Karma runs the midi and of course I arm an audio track and record. The problem is, I can't record an audio track without getting the audio from other tracks recorded at the same time. I shoud be able to hear the audio from the Karma and record something else but it's not happening. Is this an issue with the routing in Pulsar?

Thank you,

it sounds like the output of your mixer is going into an asio dest when the asio dest should be in parralel to the input going into the mixer and your asio sources should go into the mixer with the rest of the inputs
.

Hello H-Rave. Thank you for the suggestion. I tried your configuration
but it gave me no recording ability in Logic. Although Karma audio is heard I cannot record. Maybe an issue with Logic itself?

no, the source(karma synth) doesn't matter or make a difference in the ability to record it. logic works perfectly well with scope asio. you need to carefully follow the signal, likely the inputs aren't correctly assigned, either in in logic or in scope.....

Thanks for the reply garyb. This is how I have things connected.Pular analog source into mixer channels 1-2 with ASIO source connected to mixer channels 4 through 12 .Pulsar analog dest to mixer L/R out and ASIO dest to mixer out channels1 through 12.

In LOGIC I have the Karma set as a multi instrument but I can't find anything to change the output assign for this. I think I have mic and Karma coming into
Pulsar analog source but I can't figure out how to only listen to the Karm while recording a new audio track. What else should I be looking for?

Thanks,

the karma needs to go into logic via the asio dest by itself. you can either use the mixers direct out to the asio dest or connect directly to the asio dest(and the mixer at the same time so that you can listen to it).

this is independant of midi(the multi instrument thing). midi is the information about the note and patch, audio is the actual sound, they are only related in that midi tells the karma what sounds to play and when. of course the proper asio port must be chosen on the audio track you wish to record the audio to. a midi track cannot record audio.

when you get recordings that have more in them that you meant to record(like the whole mix instead of just the one sound you want), it's because you have connected the asio dest(which are the input jacks for logic) to the mix out of the mixer instead of the channel's direct out.

Hi garyb.
Thanks again for your help.

the karma needs to go into logic via the asio dest by itself. you can either use the mixers direct out to the asio dest or connect directly to the asio dest(and the mixer at the same time so that you can listen to it).
***The Karma is in fact the analog source correct? If so it is going into asio source which in turn goes into mixer. Analog source is connected to the outs of the mixer . Does that not get it into Logic? Also, asio dest is not connected to the mix out**

Thanks again,
