Recording Ritardandos

In hardware sequencers I would add or subtract percentages per measure for a ritardando or accellarando. The results were so so, and I could actually get a better result just deleting the click track and recording by ear and feel.

Since Cubase seems to have so many features and tricks, would adding a tempo track and trying to record over a wandering click be a good way to attempt this, or should I just record the parts at the regular tempo, then add a ritardando globally, quantize, then overdub the main soloing part over the rhythm sections ritard in real time?

I am interested in hearing other options from some of the Orchestral cats that dwell here.

I would apply a tempo track change, and record/play the ritardando along the 'retarded' rhythm (if it is midi).

Yepp,

That seems to be a better way w/ Cubase.

It helps to use more subdivisions for this like 16th's or 32nd's w/ the metronome.

That way when the ritarndo becomes more intense or drastic, I won't need to guess but just listen closely.

If there were any other tricks. you'd known about them..
