The Day The Earth Stood Still

Post by dbmac »

I'm blown away by the Bernerd Herman score for the 1951 film The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Hard to believe he could get some of those sounds with fifties technology. Awesome composer.
Good movie too.

The one below is a "must see " , really great drama , no word.Usually i'm a basic consumer lazy to watch intelligent films , but this one is one of the films that you do not forget.

Can think of way too many good films to put them in any sort of order, but here's a few that might make my top20... :D

Delicatessen
Man Bites Dog
Jacobs Ladder
Full Metal Jacket
The Deer Hunter
Pulp Fiction ...and Reservoir Dogs (don't make me choose)
The Godfather (even part3)
Alien
Goodfellas (and Casino)
The Thing (or anything by John Carpenter)
Predator
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Battle Royale
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Up In Smoke
Trainspotting
Snatch
Deliverance
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Matrix
Enter the Dragon
The Shining
Scarface
28 Days Later (sequel's good as well)
Sin City
Dog Soldiers
Jaws
The Omen
Huo Yuan Jia (Fearless)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Natural Born Killers
Chopper
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (and anything from Leone)
A Clockwork Orange
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
True Romance
Repo Man
Donnie Darko
Fight Club
The Italian Job (not the 'remake')
An American Werewolf in London
Apocalypse Now
Pitch Black
King of New York
The Shawshank Redemption

....OK, I'll stop there :P

How's about:
Wings Of Desire
Three Colours trilogy
My Life As A Dog
Caberet
To Kill A Mockingbird
Predator
Angel heart
Junglebook
Bourne Identity 1
Once Upon A Time In America
Into The West
Local Hero
Any Spaghetti Western
Bram Stoker's Dracula

LOTR was completely disappointig for me because the dark riders and the riders of roherim (wrong I know, it's late) were totally disappointing. And the Elves lacked that unknown alien beautiful magical quality, (except for Cate Blanchett)

I wish someone would bring Raymond Feist's 'Faerie Tale' to the big screen.
