Is anyone using a control surface with Pulsar ?

I own a radikal SAK2 and I tried many times to use it with pulsar but not enough controllers ta control volume, pan, solo/mute, and eq's. With the pulsar mixer, it's better, I can automate 24 faders, pan and aux send, but impossible for Eq's and track selection !!. No more in V3 for this !!!

Are you saying that you ran out of controllers?

I have a question for you too - can you save the controller settings for each device & each mixer too? if so, how?

Yes, not enough controllers. Well, 24 tracks : 24 cont for volume, 24 cont for pan, 24 cont for solo, 24 cont for mute, 24 for channel selection. You're full. If you want Eq let's imagine : 4 bands, Freq, Gain, Q for each on 24 tracks. The architecture of pulsarmixer could be a solution but you "CAN't" assign controllers to channel selection, to Eq, only aux send and return and busses.

To save your midi controllers, this only thing you have to do is to save your device when you have done your complete assignation. It's better to change the device name, in case, cause I already have some little surprises...

Remark: The PulsarMixer fixed Inserts Compressor and EQ are not midi controllable! You can not assign CC# to their parameters.

Did you manage to control the Aux Panel? I can't, it doesn't accept CC# either apparently...

I reinstalled my whole PulsarII environment (Pulsar 3.01) two times because of this CC#-thing, thinking something went wrong with the installation. But apparently this is a Cre@mware-feature! 8-|

At0mic: I *can* control the compressor of the PulsarMixer using MIDI, but indeed not the EQ (except for the Bypass-button)...... This is really a great annoyance! Sometimes I insert the PEQ4 into the channel insert for MIDI control but most often DSP-usage doesn't allow me such frivolity.

Another important knob without attachable MIDI controller is the Mix Level. Cre@mware, are you sleeping or what???

MasterMix Level, channel Pans & Volumes work fine here. Only BusPanel and EQ's not apparently. (I had never attempted to control the compressors, as I only have 120 CC# per device;)

As you've maybe used my Pc1600x presets, I don't assign the Aux' no more, I use them to improvise and control inserts etc. I'm quite happy w midi control nowadays!

I use Control Freak studio edition in conjunction with the many knobs on my K5000S. It's a pretty good setup, but I must admit I haven't really set it up as well as I could have.

Never thought of seeing whether they have ready-made profiles for Creamware.

They're mine and they are the same as posted here. I also updated Dan's Rebirth remote presets to presets containing Pattern Selection and Step Sequencing inclusive!!

But for you, Pulsarians, enjoy the following:

Pc1600x for Neutron7's TransPlanet -8 presets
Pc1600x for Neutron7's Dub-a-Duck -5 presets
PC1600x for PulsarMixer, 9 presets, 24 channels
PC1600x for PulsarMixer, 9 presets, 12 channels but all Aux
PC1600x for Pulsar, 24 presets for different devices

If anyone is in the mood to set all the faders to 'Update' instead of 'Merge', would be very much appreciated. So for now I only use older presets. Wanna get me started again? Join me and put up some of your presets! If you don't know how, there should be plenty of my experience in the preset accompanying texts and screenshots.

Here's one of the comments I recently got:
Just wanted to say thanks for the good work you're doing! I've been using PC1600X for quite a while, but been too lazy to learn how to program it. Your presets work just great! Installation was very easy.

That's 55 presets, more than your Pc1600x can handle. Cool huh.

In the old days, I did them all on the machine, luckily nowadays we have http://www.kvitek.com/midi/ -a free Pc1600x editor. I also have regged the other editor, but kvitek's way better. Both are pc only.

Yeah at0mic, you absolutely did a great job.
I was to busy thusfar, but I know I must check out your presets and put them in my PC1600, because you did a great reseach.
Also I must agree with garyb, I do mutch automation too.
Isn't it hard to have controll on so mutch parameters while not instantly being sure whitch one is under the faders?
Anyway, I will check out, so mutch work allready done by another...

I *always* have about 75-100% of my hardware controllers connected (64 knobs Drehbank for synth/fx parameters and 16 channel pc1600 for channel volumes. Often an external analogue sequencer or lfo or envelope follower is using some of the inputs)

Overkill??? Not at all  It makes me happy to have such hands-on sound-sculpture possibilities. Especially the drehbank's layout allows for massaging the sounds with all fingers of both hands. (some mental illness leftover from years of extensive analogue synth tweaking)

ps at0mic: I meant 'monitor level' instead of mix level
