A new track from the Cosmic series

This one is a bit different from the other Cosmics. I created an ambient dance tune (maybe to play at the Starchaser disco?)

Please post comments as I know there has to be something wrong with the track. My tinnitus is really bad and I am losing a lot of the frequency spectrum.

I really loved this one a lot! I hated the melody a lot though. Thankfully it dropped out quickly but then it cam back in again later. The melody sounds very comical and gay and it wrecks the otherwise perfect mood of this. Maybe use some minimal guitar instead.

I also have tinnitus.

Lovely soft intro and backing choir.
Sequencer coming in early makes it nice & light.
Not sure about the "Tomita" melody vocal line but the swells and pads behind are nice and warm.
Ambient rhythm feels nice, if a bit heavy on the kik and the overall stereo imaging is spot on.
Are the choirs Symphony of Voices? - lovely soft washes of "Aahs" etc.
Around 4.30 I'd have liked to hear the seq come up in the mix for a while and fade out as the new percussion element comes in about 4.45.
Oh rats, Tomita is back at about 5.00

There are hints of lots of things in this.
Obviously Tangerine Dream seqs (or Air Sculpture) Tomita voicing with a definite feel of Kitaro as well.
But comparisons aside it's a lovely uplifting piece and the choirs hold it together beautifully. It's well scripted as the rhythm track fades out and the soft choir moods take it to a warmer level.
Definitely one for the mp3 player.

The melody must go, I agree. The notes and patch may be a bit too "pretty" for the style. ( the Kitaro allusion is quite perfect,.. yeeeshhh)

I'll change it and repost as soon as I can.

I concur, the melody doesn't fit in with the background atmosphere, dark, grand and distant as the Cosmos actually is.

I am out of inspiration at the moment but I am thinking "Klangfarbenmelodie". With emphasis on the "Klang", of course. Something kinda noisy but mellow.

I'm open to anyone making a melodic track along those lines.

Haven´t been here a while, there are so many things and the year is too short.

but maybe an idea will capture me when I listen to your track. A way to solve being out of ideas is to ask around like you did now, haven´t heard it yet but for melodic elements I use long releasing epiano sound more and more (maybe a rhodes alike) with a fitting vibrato.
While it is a space track, I guess the correct play feel with the epiano could be like imagine hiting glasses instead of keys, let the sound breath, don´t break the glass and it will give you some nice sounds.

Anyway, more when I listened to it.

Using your topic as a backdoor to promise you (Z) a nice x-mas present the next days, how about a metaphysical function patch for scope?

The Ahhhs as the main tune don't have too much impact IMHO

I was thinking maybe the melody was OK but if you could try a different instrument or preset and maybe take it down an octave and see how it sounds.

What I didn't like about the main tune was the -_-_-_-____ --- pattern at the end.

It's better but I think it could use a some more minor variations. That talking drum sound is fantastic. I would emphasize it by taking it out a couple of times and then when it comes back in, the listener would realize how great it is. If it keeps playing too long, you start to not hear it anymore.

Really nice music.

The Ahhhs aren't the melody, they are the angelic ambiance. If you do have the original track, compare the timing of the start of the first melody with the same timing of the new version. It sounds more like a counter-melody, I grant you but it further supports the atmosphere I tried to convey.

I like this a lot more now that Tomita and Kitaro have left the stage.
It does convey the mood that you were after much more than version 1.
I can agree with the previous comment re taking the drum out for a while, but by extending the track to have a very lazy, quiet middle section, similar to the 7:15 mark.
At about the 3:00 mark as the seqs swell up a little in the mix, I'd have thrown in a few triplets, and there are very few who can put together Berlin School/ Air Sculpture sequencers like you. Just that bit of variation would make it jump out a bit without distracting from the overall mood.

In fact a sequencer middle section with the kik drum out and some triplets on the top end sequencer would just about make it spot on (my tastes only)

Paul I know where you want to go with this from our PM's & Emails and this has definitely, without doubt moved more into the right direction.

Beautiful stuff. You just upped the Ante for me.

When we spoke on the phone last year you were doing some Joe Bob stuff. Variety is the spice of life, this piece demonstrates that well.

I love the sound choices, but the different variations of percussive elements make this peice, and the arrangement !!

First of all the way you snuck in the the low end stuff was very tricky.

I only became aware of that when my head starting bobbing subconciously. That's from jamming w/ the Brotha's for years.

The military snare rolls were a great choice also. You put this together as if you were working live. Just like a conductor summoning his elements as required.
