What Is The Point Of DXi SynthsOver VST?

Post by Astral Fridge Magnet »

Hello,

Maybe a stupid question, but one I don't know the answer to.

Is there any point in installing a DXi version of a synth when installing the VST?

If so, what would be the point? I am often given a choice and am never sure what to do.

Thanks

I don't really use the DXi synths but I let them be installed if they're a part of a normal installation.

How I work using Cubase, I have a standard Scope project, which I modify and save for the song I'm working on.

Now, if I only want to do something in Scope, I have a different project that means I don't have to load Cubase.

I suppose DXi is similar to that really. If you want to play a softsynth without loading Cubase.

That's how I see them anyway.

There once was a time where directx was the standard for gambling as well as for music and no ulli existed. And dxi is running using the directx interface, which is in fact somewhat limited by comparing it to VST. Today directx does only matter to gambling issues. Most sequencers and other programs hve therefore cancelled the directxsupport, because you have to handle different buffersizes which may reduce the programs stability.
