Jimmy (S4L) & Alfonso

Post by alfonso »

As I added some guitar on Jimmy's FluLiq-Rhodes track, I asked him and he agrees to move it to a separate topic.

I thought this because while his topic is centered on the combination of the Rhodes sound with the FluLiq, with a great result on its own, I want to use the new track also to get opinions on the amp emulation I'm working on. I'm particularly looking for that warm vintage sounds of the very old tube amps played at very robust levels, for that creamy sound that goes easily from clean to overdriven just with the touch. That sweet spot is the weakest point, usually, of emulated amps, but is also the sound I'm more after, so I decided to work on it. The device uses some Adern's proprietary algorithms, it's not meant to emulate a particular amp but the one I would build for myself.

The project is not finished yet and I don't know in which form it could see the light and when, not even if.....

But anyway, here it is.

EDIT: the file is no more on PlZ server, so here is another link:

That's a Scope Guitar 'Eh?

That sounds nice and full w/o that phony sounding distortion.

Nice warm overdrive quality.

It's gotta be a pain in the ass trying to follow that eratic live tempo.

We will be doing this again soon.

I am trying to use Cubase w/ feel and it's coming along slowly but surely. It will pretty much do whatever you want it to as long as you understand that it's perfections, are actually it's imperfections and avoid those, if that makes any sense. :(

A Very Good Job Brotha' Man Alfonso.

Could I send you a Cubase project where you could view all of the ritardandos, accellarandos, etc.?

If so just tell me how and I shall proceed.

This is fun jammin' across the Atlantic Ocean.

BTW, Personally, I would have never thought this could be done w/ just a VDAT / wav / mp3 file. I find this amazing, and think these types of collaboration is great source of learning.

Jimmy,

I'm fine with the audio tracks, I don't need the Cubase project to tell me when it's faster or slower, after all I have to listen it and make it mine to have a certain feeling. I can also record different sections separately, I'm a studio animal, used to do so!
If you use Mail Big File service you can also send me directly the VDAT tracks and files, I have VDAT and could be a good reason to use it.... :)

If you use VDAT a lot, there is a cool Adern freebie that can provide a perfectly sync'ed metronome and ramps to sync the FleXor sequencers, so you can have, for the steady rythmic compositions, tight sequences to play along.

Ciao, :)

That's what I need !!!

I love VDAT and don't need more than 8 tracks since I am making some 4 stereo track demos w/ Upright Bass, Ethnic Persussion, and Synth.

Please send me something where I can hear a small metronome of some sort.

I have clock to click but can't seem to hear the wav files attached to it.

Thanks.

ok, let me get this straight; you haven't amped the distorsion and the signal is only coming out of your simulator right? Very impressive. so much that I can't think of any simulator that comes close to it. Could you please specify the hardware you used between the guitar and the computer? (amp and converter)

classy and soulful interpretation from you two :)

Thanks! :D

Guitar goes to Apogee MiniMe. From there it goes into AES/EBU input of Scope and straight to the simulator. from there to Asio for recording.

Yes, the guitar that comes into Scope environment is the nude singlecoil sound pre-amplified and converted to digital from the MiniMe.

The device is still in alpha stage. Being made also with Adern's proprietary algorithms its future is not yet decided....but I must confess that everytime I put my guitar in it I feel happy....

What a babe. I remember the pose early in the movie........Yowwee !!

Made my balls smoke.

I have read and tried clock to click, but I need something that just provides a metronome sound w/o any VST program triggering it.

Perhaps a small project w/ an example, seeings how I am so lame.
