FluLiq / Rhodes '73

Post by dawman »

Here's my very first recording I did digitally on my own using VDAT.

I agree w/ Brotha' Man Astro,.....VDAT is so sweet, then it gets converted to WAV, then to mp3.

This is my first device to demo.

FluLiq does my Rhodes some serious justice.

I will follow up w/ demo's of Bowen, and SpaceF's newest Multi-Synth.

My Zawinul Rhodes sounds are complete now.

FluLiq, Wax-S Wah-Wah, and Celmo's PVD.

The song is an arrangement of Charles Mingus's " Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. " From the movie " Porgy & Bess. "

It might put my fellow synth whores to sleep though.

Nice sounds.

'That boy can play'

Thanks Jimmy, I've been wanting to hear your hunting skills for ages, and that makes it worth the wait. And the Rhodes sound great.

Also congrats on learning the record thing, now can we expect more??

hehe never satisfied me, see

You've got some serious sub 20Hz issues. Take care of your - and your listener's - woofers. Where does that come from?

I like your sound and playing. :)

Thanks Guys,...sorry it was a quick 2 take w/ no consideration for the listener.

I really need to buy some small powered monitors.

I did this using my live mix from the night before, and forgot to isolate the channels amd mute them. Recording it was a piece of cake. Setting CPU affinity and trying out different encoders took hours!

I can now just record to Reaper and use LAME 3.97 as the encoder. I must have tried 4 recorders and 5 or 6 encoders !! What a pain, but now I can be a virtual world kind of guy, but my only monitors are 4 x Barbetta Sona 32C's and a stereo sub. Those Dogs only hunt onstage I'm afraid.

What would be a good solution that would not rattle the Hummel statues off of the shelves? Money is no problem, I seek some good quality self tuned powered cabs,...any ideas.

For live or studio use?
If money is no Problem get a pair of Klein und Hummel Q300ds.
They look damn good in white;)

O.K. Brotha' Man Jamar,...I am a performer, and often take requests.

What are you in the mood for?

Synths.

Acoustic Piano

Electro-Mechanical ?

I have a few hours free tonight, and can usually throw stuff onto VDAT 1st take.

Nice playing, Jimmy.

Can you try to mix down the effect about 50%? Personally, I prefer a more subtle sound than a wide wash. The way this sounds is like " 'Round midnight" I was in a drunken daze, maaaaaaan........

I liked it so much that I had to record a line of guitar melody on it.... I had just to try a new modeled guitar amp I'm building with FleXor technology ....it's still in early stage and it's fed with my self assembled strat.....I'm looking for a really vintage feel, that very light saturation that is the real omelet test for amp emulations, with that bit of cream of the plexi sound.....Slightly inspired by the Jeff Beck version, but I use a pick and a different sound here (plain neck)....something different from my usual stile...Jimmy, I hope you like this virtual jam! :)

Alrighty Then.

I am happy I wasn't booed, or put anyone to sleep. :D

Alfonso,.....My Brotha'.............I am impressed not only w/ your adaptation , but your sound using Modular.

Were your slides w/ a real slide, or portamento? It had a unique sound, and I really loved the last choice of notes.

It is difficult to follow someone else's ritatardandos, and accellarandos,...Kudos 4 Sure.

I am going to send another mp3 here where we can trade solos. I have to hear more of you and Modular.

My only shortcoming right now is that my timings will not have a click track. But I have been sequencing for years, and my approach has a real feel to it. The drums will be very basic though as I am in a hurry to hear your chops again,

I shall change my session and start this now.

At last Jimmy.

Really good sounds.

Love the rotor effect on the rhodes.

Great mix for a "on the fly" recording.

Where you recording using guitar. If so very realistic.

Got to take a look at FluLiq now.

Thanks for your appreciation....I'm not using the Modular, that's a device I'm developing in sdk that uses FleXor technology, so, if it reaches a good point it might become a commercial device...who knows...I'm looking for a sound that has to be different from the existing stuff.

What you hear is a single coil strat, the bends are hand made with a floating vintage fender tremolo bridge with only the 2 external screws....it's incredible how does this axe keep intonation with a vintage bridge, spertzel locking tuners and graphite nut help a lot though.

I'm happy you liked it, I'm not a shredder, I prefer to play only what I can play with expressivity and your Playing triggered me something to be expressed...
