1 Door Closes, And Another One Opens,

Post by dawman »

What a great week.

I have just been contacted to work with a Blues legend named Ruth Brown.

Her manager has just called me and wants me to come see her sing live Thursday, and claims he brought her to a gig of mine last year when I was doing a R & B sit in at Mandalay Bay.

This might be interesting. This was THE female Blues artist years ago w. Tom Dowd, and Ahmed Erdigan @ Atlantic Records.

B.B. King and her work occasionally here in Las Vegas as they live here, and she must be like 74 years old !!

Her manager said that she loved my synths and samples and never heard any horns that sounded that good except a live ensemble.

I never discuss pay unless it's some cheezy chick singer who gets tons of money and sucks. But this won't pay very much, but I would be honored to work with her.

I am an old Bastard myself, so one nighters are fine right now.

But Synths for Blues sounds really cool.

I like it when old school people have an open mind.

Supposedly having synths was her idea as she is looking for a new sound.

Better Late Than Never. :D

They sound great coming from a keyboard for certain phrases, but fear not,...they are weak in nature.

Swells and Shakes are controllable, but the initial ballsy attacks just ain't as ballsy as the real thing. I have been there and know better.

Kids now a days when they hear it probably think it was always a synth.

I will only do phrasings that sound accurate, and the only solo sounds that are good are the Miles Davis muted stuff.

Bones and Saxes for solos are so weak I wouldn't insult myself, but many at NS Forums think differently. But they have been in their bedrooms too long,

take care, Wiki says:
Ruth Brown died in a Las Vegas-area hospital on November 17, 2006, from complications following a heart attack and stroke she suffered after surgery in October 2006.[6] A memorial concert for her was held on 22 January 2007 at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York.[7]

I heard that also, but it says she is performing here at the Bistro. ??

Fuckin' Vegas. Someone is always making a living off of the dead.

She has always kept performing no matter what the troubles.

I will call this character and see what he is up to. His English was not so good, I hope he isn't trying to find a replacement or a Tribute using some impersonator.

I will definately check his story out.

Vegas is full of tribute groups, I shall find out what tonight. :x

You've been had.
But don't worry, be happy, it happens to all of us, all the time.

I misunderstood the guy. It is her niece w/ the same name, I will go see her anyway, I heard she was quite fierce.

What the hell, I have worked w/ Louie Prima's daughter, and a few Elvis's in my trails and tribulations, this one sounds like she is still poor enough to have some soul.

Vegas is just so full of itself.

And so is this guy. In the last century I had the pleasure of insulting the audience w/ this guy.

Lake Mead will take 10 years to fill back up. We had to compensate for the drought.

Below is what the water levels were, and the beaches were packed w/ fine trim.

It smells like crap now as the water is 80 feet down.

On a 700 mile shoreline, that's a lot of H20.
