John Coopers New Boss

Post by Wired »

John, this guy is a selfappointed moderator, stalking me about a post, that he thinks was made in the wrong area, , listen...

"Well Wired, are you convinced now that I showed you a list with totally wrong posts?

Nestor, our friendly second moderator of Planetz, made a post recently, asking people to make their posts in the right forum.

I hope people will do that, and sometimes I will ask them so.

We, as Planetz, often see ourself as kinda self-moderating forum, and the official moderators are there if a specific decision has to be made.
They usually leave us alone as they are too bussy.

Anyway, I hope you now have a better understanding of the difference between a personal, private problem and a general discussion related to the Scope platform

cheers

sorry Wired, totally wrong forum again...

you asked me to show to you where you made a lot of wrong posts, I gave an impressive list, you didn't reply to it, Atom asked me to stop asking attention for the subject, and I replied him to use pm instead.

My pm was asking account for my intervening, but you are missing the point completely.
The self moderating character of Planetz is quite unique on the internet, and it proves our power.
Hence my to reply to Atom, who was 'moderating' me (with or without good reason).

What's your problem actually?

Do as Jimmy, who just said sorry guys. I have respect for that attitude.
Don't make amok, and ask yourself why pms are called private messages.

yerrh.

Well, that one was really far away from where it should be. Anyway, please DON'T fight for such a simply silly thing. I will move them when necessary and everybody is happy, ok?

Huub, sarcasm is rarely well-received by the recipient.

Rather than "Great general scope discussion...", you could have made the suggestion more constructively and via pm. Borg had a good point that your own posts can start to become "polluting" in the forums, in the same way that misplaced posts are.

Wired, huub has a good point - please try to post in the appropriately on-topic forums.

As nestor says, it's so not a big deal to get all worked up over!

Nuf said? Hope so.

I thought this thread would be about a Boss guitar effects pedal.

man, all this hostility for posting in the wrong forum? pm's flying back and forth? That's just lame. If it's going to cause problems, you might as well just leave it.

Why the paranoid-ism of forum correctness anyway? It's just not worth it man.. I don't want to see this hostility thing become a continuous issue on planetZ.

Well there's 2 different sets of forums on Planet Z; 'Discussion' & 'Pulsar Files'. Some of the Discussion forums are slightly vague as to what all their content should contain, but the Pulsar Files forums are very specific. How anyone cannot understand what they should or shouldn't be posting when it comes to the Music, Devices, Modular Patches, Presets & Tools or Project forums is highly questionable, but hey I guess nobody is perfect.

everyone should try and keep their posts in the right forum of course, but I do think Hubird seems to be on a bit of crusade about it lately :) which imo isn't really neccessary, esp since he's not a moderator here.

just my 2 cents...

This is mostly my fault guys, sorry.

I tend to get excited like a kid and post w/o thinking sometimes. This does cause others to follow, hence the confusion.

Points are well taken , as newbies might wish to search in specific catagories, just to find stuff amiss. I remember those days a few years ago and admit, proper placement is better for all of us.

Thanks Jimmy, you're a gentleman :-)
Well, it looks like most of us don't mind to see the forum structure getting not relevant anymore alas.
Some do however, like me.

I got to be said to post almost 100% bullshit posts for this, maybe I should also try to participate in the so interesting mobo and other pure tech discussions to be taken seriously...

Yet I'm just relying on the rules of the house, as confirmed again by our two moderators.
I may be 'polluting' the forums by reminding people to the rules, yet it's not me who makes those numerous wild posts, and not me who made those rules either.

I wonder what IQ one has to have to be not able to understand the difference between a 'private'problem and a general discussion interesting for all, but that could be me.
So I'd say, post your problem in the announcements forum, ask for the price of something in the general scope forum, ask for tips in the tips and tricks forum, put device wishes in the devices forum, ask for a Nordlead to buy in the off topic forum, and post one's private messages on planetz, even in the wrong forum..., as 'I do what I want and don't try to stop me' is the norm.
sarcasm included, yes.
Cheerz.

Perhaps there is a bb function which will give us a loud tympani & bowed double bass riff when attempting an erroneous post - this would be my poorly planted post proliferation police preference :)

Hubird,

You obviously feel offended by my remark in the thread by Wired that started this discussion. This was by no means my intention, and definitely wasn't aimed at the 'under the belt area' as you felt it... So I hope you will accept my apologies.
And yes, I roll my eyes as well when someone tries to sell a hardware synth in Announcements, or is looking for a mod patch in Devices, but that's just what I do... I roll my eyes and go on, live and let live.
It's also obvious that we have different opinions. You shared yours, I did that with mine. Let's just keep it at that...

Thanks.

As it looks like I have to accept that we have at least three problem forums.
So be it.
It's suggested already why not combining them to one 'tech forum'.

Ha, imagine a few hundred mac users would post all problems they have all over the place, without anybody else interested in it or knowing about...
I bet a lot of you would think differently about the case, not because of the mac then, but purely for the case, am I right?

But I admit, I mostly felt annoyenced by the st•pidity of posting erroneously on that scale.
As if planetz is just kinda data bank :o

On another track, I pm'd someone lately asking him to post problems in the problem forum (I did that only a very few times, as it doesn't work anyway).

I got a (very kind) reply, but he ended by saying, he got one solution, so the post was succesful.

Meaning: obviously he did the right thing. And he is even right.
That's the implicite message given, and that's more than 'live and let live':
As I hope you guys know to know how to explain to some that it's all different for the devices forum or whatever forum you still wanne keep clean a bit...

Anyway, I made a miscalculation regarding the silent agreement on my aim.
So I apologize for having made this to much to a personal case.

Back to the Mobos now, that's much more interesting, and forgive me this one :-D

well, it's a pretty common behaviour (on the net) to post in those sections that seem to have the highest frequency of responses, not to use any search function at all,
to be entirely self-focussed - ...I don't have the time to read all this... ;)
anything has a flipside anyway

thumbs up mate, Tom :D

yes, my concern, as planetz was always different.

Hm, KVR-style is the usual term to symbolize this behaviour?
Must be by accident, but we share already a thread start with KVR :-D

thanks for thumbs :-)

well, bringing in the comparison with kvr, I'd have to agree, stuff here is much more well organized, and less "hey, solve my problem" one off posts. I do agree in upholding that sort of high standard.
