What's It Worth (A16)?
Just curious what near mint A16 (original version) is worth on the used market (USA)....
well, that's a difficult question - the main point is that only someone who had experience with it will be interested. Anyone else will probably throw the towel as soon as getting aware of it's 16bit nature.
2nd point is it may look great from outside, but that doesn't tell a word about the components and soldering inside.
New old stock wouldn't be good either, as electrolytic capacitors may 'dissolve' internally over the years if unused.
I have one of those myself and it's not exactly funny to service, mostly due to rivet interconnecton of the 2 layers.
These are easily damaged if you're not careful at parts exchange.
if the box is really excellent (all channels without hum, low and equal noise level - then I'd probably pay $400 to $500 if I were in need for the thing.

it's a very common 'mistake' to mess the units, sometimes even intentionally on ebay sales... for the 'bigger' numbers of the Ultra.
Maybe it's the rather exotic AD converters that give the original A16 it's 'sound', but there are people who definetely like it - and pay more than one would expect.
I'd still give it a 10 in a Jazz Quartett as well as in a Funk or Rock session recording
