definitely!

When i first heard Frank Zappa's 1988 live records (especially broadway the hard way), I was thinking 'what the hell are those stupid vocal samples?'. Later I learned he was using his incredibly expensive synclavier for live sampling (iirc, even with his guitar as trigger). At that time pretty revolutionary, nowadays laughable.

Btw, just a week ago, I got a mail from a friend who works at a school, asking me if i wanted a C64 as they are going to put them in the trash. I remembered that this computer has the same chip as the SID, so somewhere next week...
who knows? It's probably gonna gather some dust at my place now ;)

hehe I grew up with a spectrum, I loved it.
Now I still use a spectrum in the centre of my studio.

I gots me a Digitech2101 which uses the Z80 chip. Its a great piece of studio hardware. Awesome reverbs, and ya cant beat a real tube.

good one, Andy - go for it :D
I have 2 or 3 of them from flea market and a HardSID Quattro (ISA board w. 4 SIDs) with midi control - the PCI version appeared soon after my purchase... :(

but the original C64 games gain in popularity - you may connect the C64's video out to a digitizing device to use it with a regular screen... :D

cheers, Tom

I dreamt of having one when it was released but could never get that money at this time... I got one years later second hand but then got a CX5M Yamaha (yuck) and close to that the Atari killed them all. I had found my long term computer platform.
But man, this Sid chip is good even compared to today's standard.

You guys must be around 40 as well if you had one at those times... :D
