R.I.P. Oscar Peterson

Post by dawman »

One of the finest Jazz Pianists who ever lived.

I had the pleasure to see him and the great guitarist Joe Pass play live many times at Cocunut Grove, Fla. in the late '70's.

The fact that one of our members here owns his Oberheim XPander shows just how hip this cat really was. Most Jazz guys from his day wouldn't be caught dead touching anything like that. That Oberheim was blessed !!

Sail Away To The Only One Brotha' Man Oscar. :

I still have the receipt from him. And like a fool I sold it once in desperation to a friend who although a great piano player wouldn't know a LFO from a UFO. So it sat wrapped perfectly in his closet for a few years before I had the smarts to buy it back, just before his ex-wife made him sell everything for the divorce settlement.

Good Move.

That XPander is worth a fortune, if my instincts are correct, it will never be sold.

Pride and honor have no price.
