Don't forget: Pulsar type 1 and it was not a limitation from PCI but memory!

cheers

true, but that's probably a side effect from the generation one card slowing down transfer.
I can have 5 MVs actually running and processing on Intel 815 (only Pulsar Ones) so it's indeed not very impressive. Today people probably laugh about a 133MHZ memory bus...
On the other hand I wouldn't expect any manufacturer to adjust his chipset to this specific test. ;)

of course it's the G33 limiting it - with a smarter PCI implementation it would probably yield 15 MVs even with a generation one card
a 50% performance increase isn't exactly neglectible ;)

but actually I don't know of any other application (but SFP reverbs) where this really matters... but it remains a humble performance nevertheless

According to the diagram in the instruction book
supermicro C2SBE has 3 PCI slots on their own seperate PCI bus. not being shared with anything (although the "irq" might be) the 4th slot seems to have its very own PCI bus.
Probably means that you can use 3 SC cards and something else in 4. i doubt it would be very happy having 2 cards on seperate busses,

anyways i ordered one.

Astroman

If Alphonso is able to load 15 mvs on a p35., then why not the same on a g33. It is the same ich9 south bridge.
What do you think?

Christian.

I can load 12 mvs on an amd k8nsc with Pulsar 1 and Scope Pro on my system.

that's TWO p1's!

anyway, 10 MVs is plenty of bandwidth. if you think the result is poor, don't get that MB....

Intel's Forte is it's mission critical stability. 3 years of live performance on 875's, 865, and 965's.

I hope the P35 does the same.

I get carried away w/ benchmarks and pretty colors myself, but always come home to the same gal at night..........................Intel / Scope / Giga.

I have high hopes for the Intel DP35DP.

9 or 10 MV's is all I ever seem to get on Intel boards.

But all of my DAWg's Hunt.

...and who the HELL uses 10 different reverbs anyways

...that 2 Pulsar Ones have more impact than a single one (which alfonso has if I remember correctly) :D
edit: wait a moment, that was 2 fast - the G33 has graphics onboard...

and no, I don't need 10 reverbs, but 1 instance of the A100 is roughly the bandwidth of (at least) 4 MVs - and I just love that thing 8)

the results are much appreciated, as they tell me it doesn't make much sense to add a generation two card to 2 Pulsar Ones.

if you need more dsps, why not?
i have 2 p1s and a power pulsar in my main machine. a masterverb, and a p100 have lived quite happily together in mixes that maxed the dsps. i can't get 10 masterverbs on my d865perl. it's pretty rare that a dsp overload is the problem in a mix.

eventually, i'll rotate the p1s out of that box, but they still work fine. how long has it been since i got the first one? 6, 7, 8 years? it was followed by 2 p1 srbs and then the power pulsar kicked out an srb. there'll be a newer card kicking another srb out, maybe soon... :)

well, I meant instead of adding a 3 or 6 DSP card it's better to put a 14/15er on it's own system.
I really like the Pulsar One and the trio serves me well for my humble recordings (if I ever get to...)
Recently aquired a new bass, which is supposed to last a bit longer than it's predecessor, but funds are still a bit limited :P
it's so hard to resist fine instruments if you ever put your hand on one :D

Hi,

Thought it was generally observed that 10 MV on P1 and Intel chipset was signifying that the system was correctly set up?!

Neutron: C2SBE is my Setup. You will have to take care that PCI numbering is reversed from previous hadware generation. Slot 1 is the most external! Otherwise, it run fine here with the 4 PCI slots filled (3 * 15 DSP and a sw1000).
Also, I disabled the 2d PCIe bus in the BIOS to get the maximum amount of memory (3,2 Gb reported by XP)

Cheers

Are you trying to say that first PCI slot is that far at the end of board? That is cool since that way my cards would be far away from pretty warm VGA card..

Hi,

Exactly that, the 1rst PCI connector is the one the most external!

cheers

are you getting 15 MV on that or was it your previous board?
