Don't understand why is it illegal to follow the bus? Does anyone know the rules of the road in Italy? I know that, here in US, a right turn in front of the bus is illegal.

Who will pay for the damaged engine block (or whatever gets damaged under the car)? What if someone dies?

well, in areas with these barriers installed there are certainly traffic signs about the restriction.
... which lots of folks (as usually) consider made for 'the others' but not themselves :P

the black car in the middle of the damage series is an excellent example:
it's much too fast for the situation and the driver ignores people who are about to cross the street on something that looks like a priviledged passway.

the 2nd vans follows too close: there is a simple rule in traffic, that says you have to adjust your speed in such a way that you can stop the vehicle within half the distance you can overview.
just because it is unexpected, doesn't mean something does not happen... :P

but in any case, you can safely bet that the area is labelled properly :D

those unfortunate drivers were really trying to make abuse of the bus going in.
those piles come up extremely fast.
in my town they use blocks which are rounded so that a car will glide back...if you're lucky.
Everybody is used to it now, tho in the beginning there were several bikers who got launched high late at night and not so sober.
