dsp-board installation, driver problems-> PROBLEM SOLVED

Post by Gell »

updated!!!
problem solved!!!

look below

hello there!

i have (had) problems using my creamware powersampler card in my new computer.

os: win xp pro, sp2 + all updates.

after boot up, the device manager showed no cw-card or error messages.
when manually installing the "scopewdm.inf" from may 07, 2002 (no matter if i chose "dsp-board" or "scope") the system hung, i got a blue screen
complaining about a problem with "portcls.sys".
after reboot, the dvd-drive and the on-board sound showed errors in the device-manager (they are both connected in line) and there´s still no creamware card to find (only "unidentified device").

after looking into the bios, the pci 1-irq assingment says "auto"->assign pci irq for device.
changing the pci-slot didn´t help.

update:

ooops...

- i tried to run the board in my old comp again: "creamware dsp-board not found"
- put the board into a different slot: the comp didnt even boot up the bios!

o.k., i thought, i gave the board the electrostatic zapp while handling it.
but then -for some reason- put it back into the new machine to find, that it takes a hard bit of squeezing and pushing, until all the gold of the connectors vanishes in the slot! (ignore the crackling only to a certain extent, though...)
in other words: the board was simply not inserted firmly and thoroughly enough!
can you believe that?

now, when booting up the new comp, it finds new multimediacontroller automatically and installs everything effortlessly.

peace is restored again.

OK, you're sorted. Why not try the latest software if you haven't used your card in a while you may want to try getting the latest download software and installing that. You haven't specified which Scope software you are using. Download the software here:

http://www.creamware.com/index.php?subm ... ex&lang=en

Before you install this you will need to get a new "allkeys" file from Ralf at the email address rb(at)soniccore.com (replace with @). Email him your hardware number. This will the serials for all the devices you are entitles to. i don't think any cost will be involved. Apart from having the latest software you'll have a whole load of new software to play with.
