Nice! But still no mention of number of voices or parts multitimbral. I guess that would be difficult to do given the dynamic nature of the instrument. At least it would be REALLY nice to know how many DSPs are inside and if it is voice expandable...

Neat thing about uploading instrument changes via USB to the device...

String models? Way cool! Hybridddd - interesting. I wonder if these modules will be available to exiting Creamware DSP users...

It does say it's voice expandable:

The "Doubler" hardware expansion doubles the power of the Noah synthesis engine

I imagine it has X number of SHARCS inside, and this expander just doubles it, thereby doubling (or almost doubling) the # voices you get from each model.

I also wonder how they've implemented the voice allocation system? Is it like Pulsar where you have specify the # voices you want (up to maximum possible) for each loaded patch?

Well, if they're exiting, then I guess not.

I imagine they won't release the new models for Pulsar at first, since that'd maybe cut into their Noah sales, but I'd bet you will see them on Pulsar some day!

they need 2 scope cards installed inorder to compet with other companys

it will be very nice and honest if they tell us number of voice you can get on each DSP synths. also numbers of effects can be loaded in on pulsar/luna/scope
so that everyone will be happy, wont feel being cheated.

16 knobs because they want to cut down production costs. about the dsp, it doesn't need two scope cards in order to compete with others, everything will be optimized for this system specific resulting in a way lower dsp usage then on regular pulsar systems. it can run 3rd party synths too but those have to be optimized by the developers, there we go again

but i ensure you this thing kicks serious ass, it's the best thing from then since the introduction of the pulsar/scope hardware.

i find Lightwave, Posion, Prisima, Uknow007
are the only pro sounding synths from creamware. but supernova2 and Virus Indigo sounds alot better, due to the effects i suppose

To YOU. If that's the sound you like, use it, but I prefer a sound that isn't drenched in cheap onboard effects, I absolutely hate the sound of the SuperNova, but that's just my opinion.

I know other people have said this before, but professionals make the best use of the equipment they have.

Its much more rewarding in the long run to create your sound. That it is to dial up a sound instantly and use it just because of its wow factor, my 10 yr old cousin could do that!

In the UK I've seen a few acts get to no1. Using relatively mosdest setups, ie ataris!

Talent shines, whatever the equipment.

Dxl once your talent begins your earn you money, you can ditch your pulsar and buy all the expensive fabulous sounding equipment you need.

So you're telling me also the Akai S5/6k series are outdated and so useless? It has an Intel 386 base, how old is that!?

John Bowen posted this description to the OasisPCI list - gives a bit more detail of the Noah:

"Just to clarify, the minimoog model (which CW is calling the 'minimax' - not to be confused with an Austin Powers character or whatever) uses completely new algorithms specifically developed to emulate the Moog sound. It's much smoother and with more top-end than the old CW dsp algos. Yes, the NOAH uses the same SHARC dsps as Pulsar, but there are some new DSP blocks in there. Some of the other included synths should be the same as for Pulsar users (the Lightwave, for example), since it is basically the same SHARC system.

The other main new thingy is a string model they've licensed which is not based on the Stanford work. It's sounds pretty good.

The architecture is as follows: base model comes with 6 SHARCs, two of which are reserved for effects at all times. There's always a chorus and reverb, with additional effects available in 2 FX inserts. From what I understand, those 2 insert effects have to fit in the remaining dsp space of the 2 chips.
The other 4 chips are divided into 2 sections, so that you can load 2 different
synth algos at a time (so, 2 SHARCs per model). These 2 slots can be expanded
to have a total of 4 SHARCs per section. Also, some RAM is available per chip,
and a RAM expansion can be added for a sampler package.

It may be possible to use both sections together for one synth model, I'm not sure yet.

Also, it uses a Compact Flash card for storage, and also connects via USB to the computer to get a full synth editor."

I'm don't really understand why you post on this forum DXL.

You seem to hate this platform so much that you don't ever seem to have anything nice to say about it.

Are you asked to stay on here as a village idiot or something? Because you'd have to be stupid wouldn't you - to linger in here like some festering sore spattering pus all over the forum?

Is there an evangelical motive? Are you trying to convert people away from the Creamware platform because you've had a bad experience? I mean, that's understandable I guess, but most normal people would have given up by now and dropped the "harbinger of doom" motif and the platform altogether and found something that satisfies them more.

I mean isn't success and happiness a better revenge than playing Marvin the Paranoid Android for a worldwide audience?
