I had trouble with those well known messages (see thread) and followed the advise of Emagic (not Creamware !) to disable usb in the bios, buy a usb-pci-card and run my usb-devices that way; and: it works perfectly without probs, recording 16 asio-channels (8 stereo channels) at once !

Buy a USB2-PCI-Card by Adaptec if you have problems with PCI
mmm this wont help you at all
but I am having great results with my setup
and yes im using usb midi and usb key with LAP 5
pci or asio overflows are not happening
I can run 37+ plat verbs or 13 masterverbs
system tweaking is ESSENTIAL and takes lots of investigating but once it,s set up right all these problems mentioned (hardware pending) are history.

Not only that: because I bought the Adaptec usb2connect pci-card I cannot only run my usb1.1 devices (most important usb-dongle of Logic Audio Platinum 5 and the Midiinterface, but also usb2 devices (external storage of my music with usb2-hdd´s) or make a usb2-network with my laptop...
really: if you want to have a stable system you have to disable usb in the bios and buy that card, you will have more time making music.
With this thread I want also to express my thankfullness for all the help I recieved at this place.
Although if you are not running the latest pc you can still have a high performance creamware live-recording-capable audio workstation if you follow all the hints; you can really record 8 stereo channels at once with a sequenzerprogram loaded.
