mix2 question

Post by widy »

Some strange behavior to the mix2 module in modular

I used the modular to build some waveshaper functions , the waveshaper sounds ok if the input was a modular OSC. But if i connected external audio ( from other scope synths ) some shaper do not the right job.

Because of the following behavior:
Multi OCS out -> mix2 In 1
Multi OCS out -> Inverter -> mix2 In 2
Mix 2 Out …. No sound .. so far so good

Audio in 1 -> mix2 In 1
Audio in 1 -> Inverter -> mix2 In 2
In scope rounting window, any synth connected to modular in
Mix2 Out …. Hear some sound artifacts, .. why ? ..if I mix a signal and the inverted signal the outbut should 0.... or not ?

Multi OCS out -> add2 In 1
Multi OCS out -> Inverter -> add2 In 2
Add2 Out -> Gain 6db …. No sound .. ok

Audio in 1 -> mix2 In 1
Audio in 1 -> Inverter -> mix2 In 2
In scope rounting window, any synth connected to modular in
Add2 Out -> Gain 6db …. No sound .. ok

For Mix2 all controller set to max.

Is this ok ?

It's tough to build 'modules' in modular: the SDK has an option for 'children' to be locked to their 'parent's' DSP, so some modules/atoms would be locked to the same DSP. This to avoid the sample-size buffer (read: delay) between 2 DSP chips. If you run that test again, results may vary, or better, they usually will, because Scope will load the modules on chips as it feels fit for them.
Solution: use SDK or kindly ask someone who has it to build it for you.
