Pink floyd - audio only recording

Post by Nebukadneser »

Hi,

I brought my secondhand Carillon PC (PIII 1ghz / 512 mb fitted with my Luna II/ Pulsar I/Pulsar II and Luna 24/96 breakout box) to our rehearsal space to do a demo recording. This was my first attempt at doing an audio only project and 1st time Scope left my home. For recordning and mixing I used the big STM24/48 mixer (which I had to replace since the eq settings don't work in the example set up in Scope).

In the project I used 10 ASIO2 Channels for recording and 10 for playback.

Drum kit was split into bassdr/snare dr/group for overhead mikes / group for tams). We used a BOSS ME50 multi fx for out 2 guitar players. A Behringer mixing console was used for monitormix and the insert points fed the Luna 24/96 box. Bass and vocals used the Behringer for preamp.

I used Cubase SX2.2 and its mixer for setting playback levels in the mix. All compressor, master reverb pro (AUX 1 / 2) and EQ were set in the 2448 mixer.

For guidance on mixing I downloaded a user manual for a large hardware Mackie mixer which had a lot of advice on EQ settings for each individual instrument including the different drums.

I guess you will recognise the melody - any feedback on how to improve the mix is appreciated!
