No Audio Device in Windows XP

Post by mediamalte »

My Scope System realy works fine with Cubase, but I can't hear anything in Windows - for example with the Windows Media player or WInamp. The Wave dev and source is connected to ASIO.
In the Windows System is no Audiodevice listet (look at the screenshot) - I think this could be the problem. How can I add the Scope home board in this menu?

That's normal it doesn't come up in that menu it comes up the device manager and in the following pages on that menu.Scope has it's own mixer it doesn't come up in that one.

make a screenshot of your routing window and post it here and I m sure we will find the problem.

which wave driver did you load?

and why do you connect it to the asio device?

your windows sound setup seems correct so far.

can't you go to the hardware tab and select creamware in/out1?
you'll need a wav(or 24bit wav) source and dest to hear or send out anything via windows...

I've routed the WAV devices and I can select DirectSound: CreamWare Play/Rec 1 or 2 but I didn't hear anything...
Here is my routing :)

your setup is pretty strange so far....

:o

thats what I expected anyways. :D keep cool! Everything is working correctly :)

I`m sure your wave driver is working fine, but your routing is mixed up!

try connecting the wave source 1 directly to the luna analog destination module and you will hear sound from meia player.

My recommendation: have a look at the creamware manual to fully understand the module workings.

the asio2 destination is for multi-channel asio recordings , the asio source is for bringing out multi channels from your sequencer to a scope mixer or multi analog outputs.

In your setup the mdeiaplayer is routing its sound into asio channel 9 and so you can just record it in your sequencer if you switch over to asio channel 9.
If you wanna hear sound connect it to the luna analog output.

If you want to monitor multiple audio sources (asio source, wave source. and so on) on one analog output (like the luna analog destination) you have to use a scope mixer device, like in my following setup.

have a look at it:

once you understand the workflow its very easy to work with. You just not yet fully understand the intended workflow of fthe different modules.

Hi!

Don't know if you solved your problem already, but there's something else you may have to do: there's an application called "IOEnabler", I believe it's located on sfp/app/bin (not sure, I'm doing this by memory). If you open that app, you'll see a menu where you set up the number of wav drivers, MIDI drivers, and some other audio optimizations (for older versions of Logic, it seems...).

Insert the number of wave drivers you're most likely to use, and they'll show up on the Windows Control panel thingie, and can be selected as audio drivers in non ASIO apps as well.

At least I hope so... I cannot confirm this right now, so forgive me if I am wrong.

Good luck!

Much peace,

T

looking at your project, i'd say it was an xtc project.

i hope this provides some useful hints.

now,
windows sound uses the wav source module, you can think of this module as windows programs' "output jacks". if the windows sounds go out this port, where does the sound go? i see that the wav source module is wired into the asio destination. well, that means that the sound is going out the wav source module through the cabling, into the sequencer(cubase?) via the asio dest module(the input jaks for the sequencer).

in order to hear anything coming from windows, you'll have to monitor a track in cubase with the ports that the wav source module is connected to and an output to the l,r output channel, which is connected to the Luna Analog dest(the hardware outputs). in any case the wav source has to end up connected to the Luna analog destination to be heard outside the computer.

this is a place where scope mode is really easier. in scope mode, you'd use a mixer to feed the asio and wav sources(and anything else) into the Luna analog dest. i believe there's an xtc mixer in the devices section.....

Thanks for the answers :D

@ Tau: Thanks for the tipp :-) I try but after using the IO Enabler (and rebooting) the media player didn't find any Creamware device anymore.

@grayb: you're right, it's an XTC Project and in this routing window I can't connect the Wave devices with the analog out device. If i load a normal Scope project - multimedia for example - I can hear Soundfiles with the media player.

Maybe it's just not possible to use the Wave device for Windows Sounds in XTC :-?

Xtc only Works in ASIO mode i.e. Cubase etc .and not in the windows wdm mode.I don't quite understand what you're trying to accomplish ?
