still in the process of digesting what I've learned from jazz lessons so far. this one's primarily just a study of chord changes to see how much I can use jazz concepts and still stay within my regular style. This is just the root + chord layout for memo.
the playing's completely quantized in this one, still can't play 16ths like a robot yet. hehe.

CIrcle of 5ths in the bridge is typical, especially with the 9th in the chord like you did it. The return to the opening line perhaps needs to be prepared a little better, like tonicising the A minor. F9 doesn't do it for me, unless you stick a G9 on the 4th beat. That seems to work here. of course, you are running into the problem of harmonic stylistics as you have a pretty basic progression at the top and you turn to 9th chords in the bridge. But that can be fixed with orchestration and we all know this is a sketch.
Nice melody by the way

thnx for the feedback. The haromonic stylistic clash is what I'm having most problems with.. It's really hard to mix the more jazz oriented harmonic structures into more popular styles since they are so completely different.. And I'm not sure if I'm familiar with the jazz structures enough to be able to cover it with arrangement, I'd still need more experience in that aspect. It's strange, really, since all this time I've hinted so much jazz influence, but come time to actually take jazz and digest it, I'm completely un-equipped for the task.
Will carefully go back to the part you're talking about, I'm really digesting all this stuff so it's all good learning for me. It's strange. I feel like all this time I was just wandering around my own neighborhood thinking I knew the world. I did know my neightborhood extremely well, but only now am I venturing out into the unknown world. Kinda like Saturday Night Fever. hehe. My new all time farvorite movie, by the way.
But all this has given me really good opportunity to come to terms with my own musical shortcomings. Being frank about alot of the technique I had that were merely cover ups for lack of knowledge in a specific area, certain things I'd do to cover up for my lack of chops, etc... All that has to go away now, because I'm extremely serious about becoming a better performaner and a musician, and I don't have enough time to be fooled by my own tricks.
So bear with me as I pick my self back up from my Miami loss. It's only starting to come back together. But I do feel really good about my music, finally, after 2 years of feeling like crap.
