All I have is a 4/4 kick drum and a beefy synthline from my Prophet Plus Pulsar synth, both of which are under -3db, and if I turn up the volume of my speakers, I get distortion. I can also hear it in headphones, so it's not the Mackie HR824's (not that I ever suspected them).
What's going on here? I'm using Nuendo, and outputting both tracks to separate bus outs to Pulsar's Micromixer, where they get summed to stereo.
The project is 44.1khz, 32-bit float.
Anybody have any ideas for me here?
It sounds like I'm running out of headroom somewhere, but I can't find that spot.
Thanks,
Mark
Noise problems with only 2 tracks!
your meters are vu meters not peak meters. it is possible to overdrive very low freq or very high freq especially transients and still show margin in the meters.hardware works the same.
(of course ,that COULD be what's happening it's difficult to say not being there and having so little to go on.)
