Problems with installing Scope 4.0 to WinXP

Hi,
I own Pulsar II card.
I reformatted my hard drive and installed a clean WinXP SP2, also installed all updates and stuff. Not it's time to install Scope 4.0 and driver but i got into problems...
When installing Scope 4.0 the instllation just crashes by giving the error popup to submit the error info to microsoft.
I have tried to install just the driver but the one i have is for Win2k only (where to get one for XP?), when i install it, the PC just restarts at the end of installation.
I tried installing the driver in safe mode, it installed, but now i can't load WinXP so i had to disable the card in device manager so i can boot to windows...

What do i do?
Any suggestions are welcome.
I'm now downloading Scope 4.5 but i'm not sure if i can use it with Pulsar II or i need to pay for using Scope 4.5 software/drivers?

win2k is the xp driver.

if it's not installing that indicates a hardware problem, motherboard, ram, powersupply....

remove the card, restart the computer, shut down the computer, replace the card, restart the computer. windows should ask to install the driver. put in the disk with the driver or put the install file on the desktop and run the install wizard. you should get to the point of windows complaining that the driver is unsigned. install it anyway, it should work.....

one other step-
if you have already tried to run the scope installer, delete the scope file that may already exist on your hard drive.

I was been able to install the driver, but i have no luck installing SFP 3.0c, Scope 4 nor Scope 4.5

When i click on setup.exe i get the crash popup asking me to send crash info to Microsoft

What scope file do you have in mind, for me to delete?

the one on the c drive, if it exists..

do you have the original disk or a donwloaded version of the software? if it's the downloaded version, try placing it on the desktop and installing from there. just use v4.5, if it won't work the others won't either. i install this software all the time. i assure you, the problem is on your end.....

unfortunately i've tried everything you suggested, but it did not work.
I tried installing from safe mode too, it did not work
i tried putting the installation folder on desktop - didn't work too

i can't think of anything that could be wrong what prevents scope installation from launching

Have you tried changing the pci slot for the card, it may be a graphics card conflict.

I Didn't
because i think i have only one PCI slot on my motherboard, graphic card is using PCI Express and i had the system running without problems for more than a year on the same PC but after my HD died and i had to reinstall clean windows i got into troubles.
I didn't touch any hardware except that i swaped one HD and DVD-rom

What would you call the scratch?
I think i started from scratch, fresh formatted hard drive, clean windows xp sp2 installation and Scope does not install. What could i do?

well, something's not right.

i've done too many installs to think that it just doesn't work for you. i can't see your pc to give better advice than start over. if windows is right, the installer should work....

are you installing to the c drive?

It's not that bloody scope interface file thing is it ?, where to type in c:\scope(forward slash micrsoft) in the interface it's c:/scope the second one being the scope file directory, that happened to me, bloody annoying

I had none of the drives with C letter (after reinstalling windows i had no way to choose the letter) and it started from G (?)

So as soon as i changed drive letter of one of the disks to C it started installing

ps. if you don't have a C: available even during a "fresh install", it's not a fresh install. one better had zeroized the first 512 byte on the disk...

I installed it to G disk, it is installed and it works, i loaded my backed up project file that is set to be startup one, the problems still bother me:

Now, i seem to set all the settings i have used for years, in scope but there's no sound in Windows XP. I went to control panel > Sounds and audio devices properties, it shows me No Audio Device (on startup tab, called volume), on Audio tab it shows no available selections to select devices for playing, recording and MIDI. While in Device manager it says that audio card is installed and working fine.

Any suggestions? My ASUS motherboard has an integrated Realtek audio card, but i have it disabled internally in BIOS so WinXP does not show it as second audio card, so i guess they don't interfere...

scope is not a windows soundcard. windows audio settings will not display properly. windows sounds will play throught he wav or 24bit wav modules....

Well, earlier, i was been able to set windows to accept Puslar II as windows audio card, in audio settings i was been able to setup play and rec deivices like Creamware play/rec 1, Creamware play/rec 2

In other programs i was been able to set Primary Sound Driver, or Creamware play/rec 1, Creamware play/rec 2

I have Wave sources and sestinations set in Scope project, but it did not help me hear any sounds, it says: "Bad direct sound driver, please install proper drivers or install another device in configuration..."
So see, i need to setup something in windows too, just it does not let me, in audio settings window the selection menus are inactive...

if this is a clean install of xp and you don't have any other soundcard in the computer, scope will be the default soundcard. no tricks are needed. of course you do need modules in the routing window, as you say you have....

the fact that windows is not installed to c: can create problems. your computer is nothing if not a system of files. if those files are orderly, the machine will run perfectly. if the files are in disarray, or in an unexpected order, things won't function too well.

the following is with respect....

like i said, if it were me, and i wanted a useful machine to make and record music, i'd dedicate the computer to that task and reinstall windows from scratch. that means repartition, FULL(not quick) format, and then reinstall the os. then install motherboard drivers. then install video drivers. then turn off the xp eye candy(control panel/system/advanced/performance/settings/adjust for best performance)then install the scope card and it's driver. then check for shared irqs(in system information/hardware resources/conflicts-sharing) fixing if nessessary, then install your software, then install scope. keep it off the internet and it will work properly.

i may have missed a point or two, but in general, that is how i make all of my computers work. there's no shenanigans involved, in fact the opposite, and my machines work every time and if my customers can't do something, it's because they need to practice more, not because the computer doesn't work.
