2 weeks ago i start to work with new hardware: p4t-e, p4/2.2 and 1giga rambus (win98se). in the begining i was thinking that everyrthing will work good but with time i notifice 2 problems:
1. while i work in cubase i have some little jumpings (about 1 time in hour). sorry, i don't know english word for this sound - this is not click - this is very-very little hole in sound (few miliseconds)?!
2. in cubase (in some songs) my cpu meter for no reason goes (song not playing) 20-30% (depending of cpu usage) up, stay 4-5 seconds and than goes down to normal?!

I don't know, if it is related to this -> http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb ... SD=SO&FR=0 , but you might want to take a look at it anyway.

Did you try setting VCACHE to 524288 both max and minimum?
What is gsif?

Why would you try setting vcache so high!?

http://www.bluelifeaudio.com/~pcconfig
->optimisations
->windowsxp

read about 2/3 of the page about vcache.

Or what troubleshooting are you trying to do?
more has been done with less

Atomic

Because, as you can see in my first link, Microsoft themselves have stated, that WIN98se (among others) can not handle more than 512MB of RAM, BUT if you assign the extra RAM you have for VCACHE, it should be no problem.

Have any of you managed to get the c/p registry extension to work? I get the message, that the file is nt a registry script. (I have no double extension).

yes, i solve this! but i think that wasn't vcache problem here. i try set to 16384 and 524288 and about 2 hours of working i can see (hear) diference.
my computer's knowledge is realy little to say what's problem, but i set some other things in system.ini and in windows system (virtual memory, file system....) and for now everything works good :smile:

btw: immanuel, have right (i try it) if you don't set vcache win98 can't work with more than 512mb of ram! now is the question what's formula to set value?!
