Advice requested - Im building a dedicated CW computer.

I want to build a system dedicated to my CW pro board.

It will be on a tight budget but where I need to spend for stability I will.
I will only used this PC for the CW board. I have a completely separate PC for all other uses.

From previous posts I see intel is the preferred option at the moment.
I will put my ideas here and would be very grateful for any advice received.
Prices are approximate.

Mainboard: £45
Asus P5L Socket LGA775 I945p

CPU: £32
Intel Celeron D 352 (3.20GHz) Socket 775 FSB533 512kb

Memory: £26
Kingston 1GB DDR2 533MHz/PC2-4200 Non-ECC CL4 1.8V Unbuffered Dimm

Graphics Card: £max40??
Any card will do. The interface is PCI-E.

Other components:
CW Pro Z-link card, 19" Rackmount pc case,
watercooling system and SATA hard drive.

i think you could spend the watercooling money on another hdd(you should have a separate drive for recording audio onto if you're recording audio) or a faster processor, but i'd expect it to work if you set it up well...

I wont be recording audio. The CW will be used exclusively for synthesis and production. Audio recording will be done on my other system along with sequencing.

The watercooling system is distributed from the other computer - I will only need to buy the water block. I have the biggest radiator you can get :} so it should cope with the extra load.

Personally I'd probably not use a Celeron even if it is a pure SFP system. The temptation to use something alongside someday would just overcome me and I'd be sorry I went with the Celly...but that's me.

Im looking at the Zalman ZM600-HP Heatpipe Cooled 600W Modular PSU.

Im building a pure cubase / gaming / office / graphics pc which I will be using along side this one with a KVM.

The case will be a desktop LianLi. If space is two tight I will go for some other LianLi offering. Im a complete die-hard LianLi fan, I wouldnt use anything else.

if all you gonna do is build a kind of Scope Soundmodule, then nothing beats a P3 office thingy with Intel 815 chipset for say $100 in good to excellent condition.

This is the CPU that all of the Petium M's, and E series, as well as quads got it's archtichture from. Many have been running hard for 6 years. Since this is new, and the CPU will barely be used running Scope, you can expect it to run for years w/ a Scope Pro card.

A DAW does not need high end graphic.
A gaming PC will eat CPU and has different audio requirements (EAX)

Ah my enthusiasm caused me to not be pedantic

OK, so Im building what I hope is going to be a rather large spec gaming pc, which will concequently have the power to also run Photoshop and 3DStudioMax

The DAW is not a DAW. Im gonna use Cubase because I know it, not cause its a DAW. I will be using it as a sequencer mostly.

I would not take a Celeron but a Pentium IV instate, the difference in price is very small really, and it will help you for a better working with Scope, even if Scope does not use the CPU much, you'll navigate your computer more confortably. Just my point.
