Sound Fonts (SF2) and SFP.....

Post by dejandanilo »

Does anyone use SF2 in SFP, or it's not practical? Many thanx.

That's a good idea. When I bought Extrene Sample Converter I noticed that " Pulsar " as they camm it transfers the SF2's into the STS samplers.

I have heard some really quality SF2's, and I spend thousands on libraries 4 GS3, GVI, and K2.

well, it's a bit un-intuitve, so to say... but to just use them is pretty easy
with STS-3000 (and above) there's an item called 'Sample Pool'
drag the SF2 file to that 'Pool' Window - it will then list it's content.
drag an item from the 'Pool' list to a 'slot' of choice in the STS program window
adjust the program, edit if necessary, save it

I've used it this way a couple of times recently as a quick and (not so...) dirty way to feed some standard sounds into Band-in-a-Box, cause I noticed there's a ton of jazz classics in that format...

cheers, Tom

most important - just drag that sh*t, ignoring the lack of feedback - it will work anyway.
