Complicated mix routing?!

Post by djsainz »

Hi,

I am having a terribly complicated problem with myself, and I have no idea how to fix it.

The problem is all my digital routing is wrong, the issues I am encountering are:

1) I cant record internal Cubase VST instruments, just the external ones like hardware synth's or modules or Scope.
2) when I try to solve the above in getting to record internal and external sound, I get loop back and it sounds saturated and bad.

Basically since i got the digital mixer, I havent been able to figure out the correct way to setting it up with Cubase and the Scope card so I get it to record all the audio channels I want.
I attach a desktop image of my Scope routing window, Cubase mixer and Yamaha 01v96 routing window.

Thanks for the help.

So you will see in cubase in channel only what is on that SPDIF cable coming in.

The uknow and the ASIO signal from Cubase is going to SMUX out. What is connected there ?

cheers stardust
The Uknow is connected to the 01v96 channel through ADAT using double channel so i can get 24bit/96khz. The Asio coming from Cubase has a VST instrument also routed the same way to get 24/96.

so are you getting the VST signal appearing on the 01v96?

and then trying to record the SPDIF output of the 01v96 backing into SX? just make sure you aren't monitoring the ASIO input in Cubase or you'll get feedback (as you are monitoring in the 01v96)

Yes, Im getting the VST signal on the mixer, along with all the other hardware, then i bring it all back in through the SPDIF to try to bounce the track into a stereo mixdown in cubase. and thats when the problems start. all the right signals are going "in" but only partial audio channels are availible to be bounced on the "out" channels, which is why im in confusion on why everything is fine coming into cubase but not when going out to bounce. I would of have thought you could bounce the "in" channel. That would of have saved me all this trouble.
