Howdy folks - gotta problem -
my saved projects are not loading, as of 3 days ago. It just so happens that this is the same day that I installed the dsplib from DSPDEV to try out the analogift/analogy.
I used to have a similar problem in 2.04a, and replacing the "dsp.idx" file in the pulsar/app/dsp folder fixed it. It also just so happens that the dsp.idx file was overwritten the same day as the install of DSPLIB.
I think that these might be related?
Anyone else having this problem?
Finally, and most importantly: Can someone please send me a copy of their dsp.idx file? Please, only from Win98, Pulsar 3.01a, without DSPLIB installed so that I can see whether or not this is the problem.
mail to hydrocarbonicautomaton@hotmail.com
thanks ~ I'll upload two new tracks ~ as soon as I can get the projects back to master them! And, yes I do have backups of the projects, and no, those won't load either.

Yes the DSPLIB has corrupted all my Pulsar installs somehow - you can rebuild your DSP.IDX file by reinstalling the latest Creamware service pack (an easier method is to delete your DSP.IDX file and let it get regenerated, thanks dbmac). I was really @#)( off, since the free devices weren't all that great. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but...

i downloaded the analogift, verb free, and DSPLIB a few days ago, installed it in the right folder (pulsar/app/dsp) and all seems to work fine so far...
it would be very annoying to see my system go down right now, because i was ready to back up the lot.
i've read some things about northon ghost. does this also apply to mac? what's the benefit of 'mirroring' your hard disk if you already have a full download? sorry for this probably very ignorant remark, but i usually try to make music on my computer, and this is the first one i ever bought, so...
i'll have a look myself... any links to site handling this matter?
*after reading my post, i kinda was embarrased, but hey...
i had a look at norton ghost, but no luck for mac people, any suggestions?

btw: when you finally get your system back up and running, and you start playing with the synth, let me know if you see the same problem I am seeing, specifically this:
portions of the synth disappear momentarily when changing presets. I have Pulsar set so it is not rendering the background. The portions of the synth that extand beyond the Pulsar project window seem to disappear when changing presets. Also, not sure I agree with the logic about voices changing back to 1 every time you change a preset. None of my other synths do that. If my system is capable of supporting many voices, why should I be forced to correct that every time I change preset?

Also: to Borg...
Norton Ghost is the bomb! Seth turned me on to that and it has saved my butt a few times already. It's fast and works great. I can't recommend it enough. It's only as good as your last backup though so use it often. I usually ghost my system before I install any new Pulsar synths or updates (as reported here already, I've had a real bad track record downloading and installing what should be simple devices and synths). Backing up your app's isn't the point. What happens if your Win registry or something else gets corrupted? Ghost fixes that immediately. Run, don't walk, to your nearest geek superstore and buy a copy.

yes, ghost is badass - use it religiously (if only I followed my own advice before installing dsplib!

checked it myself a few days ago (see link above)

need i say more?
thanks for the advice though, it inspires me to have a deeper search for a mac equivalent. damn. everytime i think 'now i can start making music at last', a new quest for further info needs to be challenged.
