New computer. Problems with installation

hi. Got a new computer, and installed cubase on it.
I installed my Pulsar II, scope 4, but now when trying to run cubase3, I get various error messages, like "Hardware version 12 detected. This hardware rqeuires a software update."

Any ideas, clues, help..

Have you installed the drivers ? Ar you sure your cubase version is reliable (

) ? I would suggest taht you install Cubase first and then scope. Is scope running ok alone (without cubase) ? And if you open Cubase, when selecting the Asio, is asio scope available ?

is cubase set to asio multimedia driver(wav driver) and you have no wav modules in scope's routing window?

hi guys, and many thanks for your input.

After un-installing, and re-installing, the situation is that upon starting up cubase (XTC Mode) I get an error message saying "Can't find DSP file P-Plate ADAT B Dest - Please check installation". Also I cannot see any of the A16 inputs, and the sync is always on Master, despite my efforts to change it to ADAT. I can see the ADAT in/out in the scope router window.

Any ideas what this means ?

During the installation there was a dialog whether WAV drivers are required, can this be relevant ? I always used the Pulsar in XTC mode, and previous installations were very smooth (perhaps cause they were upgrades, and there was less place for installation errors).

copy the dsp file from the install cd and paste it into the dsp directory in your scope install.

Hi Gary. The file "P-Plate ADAT B Dest.io" is already there. Did you refer to anything else?

Also copied dsp.idx to c:\scope.

P.S the weirdest thing is that 2 days ago at some stage, everything WORKED FINE - i didn't get the error message , and I was able to see all the inputs. Since then I DID NOT use the computer at all, and today when I switched it on the problems occur again.

Try to delete all your Scope OS and reinstall it from scratch.
Save your Scope.rgy from "SFP/App/Bin" folder.
Sometimes this fix my strange hardware I/O issues.

I just un-installed and installed it, and nothing changed.
At least now I know it has nothing to do with Cubase, since when I put "Pulsar2AdatB Destination" on the routing window I got the error message again.

I don't understand what am I supposed to do with the Scope.rgy. save it to where?

the scope.rgy is the file containing all the activation keys for each plugins which means that when installing again scope this file becomes an "allkey" file (import option during installation of scope).

Just few ideas :

- first of all get rid of Internet on this computer (at least the music partition)
- install cubase first
- install hardware driver (have a look at "panneau de configuration" sorry in french... and verify pulsar2's driver is ok !)
- try to use windows media driver or itunes without opening cubase ; of course scope has been opened first.... (beware taht a wave source module is connected in the rooting window) : do you get sound from WMP ? That must be the first step to be sure that the driver and thus hardware are well installed...
- if ok, start cubase and force it to use ASIO SCOPE instaead of any other
- verify that any other audio system is desabled like the motherboard audio system (bios)
- if one step fails, please change pci slot and clean carefully your soundcard golden connections...

I have applied all this tips for 5 years at least without any problem eventually...

hi Bill. Thank you for your reply. I disabled the motherboard's sound card, and now Cubase is recognizing the A16 inputs! so this is defintely progress. It is using scope.

Cubase was installed first, and then the Scope. I looked at the control panel (sorry, English.. "panneau de configuration"), and the drivers are working fine.

WMP is playing through Scope without a problem.

I don't think there is a problem with the card, since it is working fine on the old computer.

The only problems at the moment:
1) Can't find DSP file P-Plate ADAT B Dest
2) Cannot make Cubase sync to the A16.

anyway, at this stage, I just started cubase. I did not try to run any project yet.

i thought cubase should be installed first since the scope installation expected the vst plugin location. i was also adviced by other people on this forum to install cubase first.

when you say that you install the sound card first - i guess you refer to Scope cards, right ?

The computer is still brand new, so if you think this can make a difference, i can un-install both, and start with the card this time.

hi stardust. i did re-install, in fact a few times, and since this is a new computer. there's not much on it except scope & cubase.

as for the DSP file, do you mean the ADAT.io file, or something else?
the "p-plate adat b.io" files are identical in both the installation and the installed directories.

stardust. I am truly grateful for your input. I will consider re-installing though I doubt that this is the answer since this computer is brand new, and the installation is already minimal. My old computer had Internet and a lot of nonsense on it, and still everything worked there without a problem.

first things first! have you deleted the dsp file and then copy/pasted it friom the install cd yet? it doesn't matter if it's already there, replace it, and be sure it's not marked "read only" in the file's properties. this should be a 100% fix for the adat error. if not, i'm in favor of a complete reinstall. save time and energy by doing it right from the beginning.

it's ok to install the scope software after installing cubase, but the scope driver should be installed before either. i don't think your problem if from that, though. i don't think standard pc is the answer either. acpi should be fine with a new computer.

Hi, I don't think anyone answered your question quoted above (unless I've missed it) So... Restart & enter your mobo's bios settings software. On one of the pages you'll find your mobo's ethernet controllers. If you don't plan on using them, completely disable them. Ideally, this is better done just before a fresh install. While you're in there you can also disable onboard sound, parallel, seriel, game ports etc (basically anything you know for sure that you won't need.
