I've read a lot of topics about this but I'm unable to make it work.

This is what I have:
Win98
Pulsar 2
Pulsar Software v 3.01b
Wavelab 3.04c
Cubase VST 5.1 R1

I've setup a simple project with asio source, pulsar mixer and wave dest, I also routed the output of the mixer to my analog output (to ear it throug the speakers).
This project works fine when I use a wave source (I mean that I can record what I ear).
But when I switch to asio source, nothing gets recorded.

This is how I try to record. The project is loaded as default. Then I start Cubase, I open the song. I open wavelab, I push the record button, I go back to cubase and I start playing the song (with the xtc effect on) then I stop the song from cubase. I go back to wavelab and... surprise nothing gets recorded, it doesn't even make an empty file... nothing. I've checked the options of wavelab and it is set to use creamware play 1 and creamware rec 1. So I think that this is fine.
So what am I doing wrong?? Could some one send me a simple project file with the basic devices needed to record from cubase to wavelab with the pulsar 2?

I've had the same problem. Just does not seem to work in Wavelab! On the other hand I do this in soundforge all the time.....

I have Mix out routed to Wave Dest and it works in Wavelab Lite. Maybe it is a problem of the full version of Wavelab?
Just my 2c.
Happy pulsaring

I've tryed with sound forge and it doesn't record anything. The thing that bugs me the most, is that in wavelab, it doesn't even make an empty file. It just sits there.
I've tryied every thing I found on the forums and nothing seems to work. I really need to get this song in wavelab because I want to burn it on CD.
Everybody that I've asked tell me not to use the XTC plugins. But I thing there must be a way to record them.
Could someone tell me step by step what I have to do. It doesn't have to be a very detailed explanation, it only has to be step by step, because maybe I'm missing something, maybe there's something that I should activate in cubase.. I don't know.

Are you using xtc mode? If so why not forget about Wavelab and route the mix from Cubase back to two tracks in Cubase by using Lmerge on the master and the Rmerge for the input. By this you get the sound back with all the xtc plugins on (see the xtc manual). I don't use Cubase but Nuendo and I often do it like this in Nuendo so it should work in cubase as well.

I've never used XTC, but if it's meant to function as a VSTi then can't you just select "export audio" ?

Won't do, spirit. Mixdown is done at max cpu speed, not at dsp speed. Dsp has to be recorded, like hardware.
You can use Merge function for that. Check your Pulsar manual for more info on the Merge function (I/O) (only in XTC mode).

Thanks to everybody, but I figured it out myself 3 days ago. The problem is that while reading this forum I got the wrong idea that I could record the DSP in Wavelab, wich is false. So I searched through the manuals, but first I looked at the Recording manual, not the XTC. The I found the answer in the XTC manual. Now everything works fine. Anyway, thanks to everyone who tryied to help.
