Midi CC modulations via modular to host sequencer?

Post by ChrisWerner »

It must be possible or?
Lets say I build some modulator sections (LFO,Envelope, step seq, bpm based, etc) in modular and want the value output transformed to midi cc values.

This patch could be inserted between the main midi out and the midi seq in-> Cubase or whatever, like an arpeggio module..

So I would be able to control any vst effect or instrument by the modular midi cc modulation patch.

Actually I have a great 3D Panorama vst plug but it has no lfos to get bpm based panorama settings.

Has anybody done some work in this direction or can me teach how to transform CV to CC data, please ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris

I use one module of JLK, i think it 's named midi foam but i 'm not sure cause i have renamed it to midi control 5... (it has 5 inputs for CV's and 5 pots that show the CV levels. You can also use a val monitor (iflexor has them also i think there is a free module.

Regards

I think you probably mean the one originally called to knobs x5, which you can dl from my site.

I use the Val Monitor (and Val Monitor+) with success. There is a latency (approx 100ms?) so you have to learn to pre-empt that.

Not tried the "to knobs x5" so can't compare.

You can do crazy stuff with the Val Monitor, mind. I have a joystick on my Korg M1 and, when I move it upwards, it moves about 10 sliders all in different directions by different degrees by using a combination of mixers and curve tables in Modular 2. This gives you a functionality like Nord's "morph" knobs if you're familiar with those.

I put together a quick video to demonstrate:

Please excuse the low framerate and low quality.
