Hi:) Long time no see..
Well, I'm back with more questions:)
I was wondering about how much information the Luna 2 card can process (calculate) until clicks occur.
I've discovered (long ago), within Logic; that the Luna 2, really has a lot of limitations (or maybe there's something wrong with my system in general, or the Luna 2 project setup?).
I can only load 3-4 VST instruments and add no more than at most 2 FX's (VST or DX) per sample, until clicks and pops occur during playback. When I load the wave editor by side (Sound Forge v5.0), to record the track from Logic; it gets even worse! It's impossible to playback, and of course recording would be "no point" because of the high noise level. Well; the odd thing is; that even my old Sound Blaster Live card does better compared to the Luna 2, concerning the sound processing. Of course, the Luna 2 easily outclass the Live when it comes to latency. Well, it should win both comparisons.
I remember before I installed the Luna v3.0 software (when I had v2.5), I could somehow choose from within the Luna project setup, if I wanted to use the Luna 2 DSP's for sound processing or the system CPU (and memory). Maybe it would be better to process sound calculations on the system CPU. Before, I had the option to choose; but I can't seem to find this option with the Luna 2 v3.0 software (maybe I have just forgotten where to locate this option..?).
Any ideas what might be wrong? I really don't wanna insert my old Live card again; because the Luna 2 wasn't good enough.. it doesn't make much sense I believe.. because the Live card could handle 3-4 VST instruments and additional FX's without clicks and pops.. Even while recording the piece.. The Luna 2 really can't be that "weak"??!
Well, hope there's some help out there; I really could need some support:)
Btw; my system configuration:
- AMD Athlon T-bird 1,4
- 512 MB SDRAM
- nVidia Geforce 2 MX 64
- Asus A7A266 MB
- Western Digital Caviar 80GB 7200RPM HD
- Win98 sec edition
- Logic v4.81
- Sound Forge v5.0
- Nuendo v1.53
That would be the most important I think:)
Take care:)
Best regards; sincerely,
Tor Erik (Trax)

1st - Luna never gave you a away of choosing between dsp or cpu processing, it maybe gave you, while using EASI driver to 'MIX ON DSP' or not... Using ASIO driver makes you always mix on cpu.
2nd - The clicking thing is very closely related to the motherboard (In your case, with a ALI chipset), and momory. You should take real good care of having very good memory. Buying the standard memory in the corner shop won't do it. You need 'Crucials' or 'Kingston' CAS222 memory. Very important, to say the least.
For example, i can put about 4 Reaktor with full blown patchs before having any kind of trouble, but Reaktor is VERY hungry in all those fields. Try removing everything in you luna project, and add MasterVerbs till it's DSP are to the max... In fact i doubt you'll get more than 2 or 3, you'll probably have a 'PCI OVERLOAD' before the 3rd... This mean your board is not handling stress correctly. Need a better board. Also, if you have the STS sampler, you can also try with many program containing BIG wavs, and play them all simultaneously, if your hear clicks, that's really the memory.
Anyway... Luna is not that 'weak' at all... And yes it MORE than stand the comparaison, it pretty much the LIVE that can't compare, once setup correctly, and i agree that it's not that easy.
