DSP Overload Issues

I keep getting DSP Overload messages and I don't even use synths.

If I'm looking at my DSP window my second DSP is showing a number which is more than 1000, whatever that means. But it's far more than the numbers behind the other DSP's.

I'm running SFP 3.1 with a Pulsar II card hooked up to two VC-8 adat/analog converters.

I think the overload is caused by syncing with the VC-8. Does someone know what might be the problem here?

What is slave and what is master? I would recommend your Pulsar II to master and both Fostex to slave.
Numbers more than 1000 in the DSP window are no problem.

Yep Pulsar is master to Logic and VC-8. And there are no modules loaded in the project that should cause trouble. just the ins and outs connected to the STM Mixer.

Well, Pulsar and Logic ... I'm no Logic expert (I use Cubase), but I've heard that they don't match very good.
Give us some specs of your system.

We don't know what type of connections you're using or anything useful like that, but anyway, not as a final solution, but just as a test - Set one of your VC-8's to master (INT 44.1 under the 'clock' section on the front panel), one to slave (OPTICAL under the clock section on the front panel) & also set Scope to 'slave' in Scope's samplerate window. Set all devices to 44.1 khz. In your case that means just setting Scope to 44.1 if you've set the VC-8's up as above.

Now you need to make sure you cable them up like this:-

VC-8(master)---->--->----SCOPE(slave)---->--->----VC-8(slave)
................................................|___<___<___<__|

The connections above are all adat & you'll need 3 adat cables.

Additionally, you'll have all of your analogue gear going into the VC-8s.

Obviously if you're using Wordclock via bnc you can ignore the above & give specifics of how you're set up

I don't have the exact specifics about the PC, since it's in the studio and unfortunately I don't have internet there. All I know that it's a fast AMD running XP.

I got a pulsar 2 card, so I'm using the 2 adat outs and ins to hook up both VC-8's. The SFP 3.1 is set to master and both VC8s as slave, so is logic 5.5

In SFP I only use ASIO ins and outs and the mixer to link it all.

What I do see as an option is to make the VC-8's master and then Pulsar slave, haven't tried that.

But to be honest I don't really feel like hooking it up in the way you described, than what would be the benefit of having four ADAT ports?

Hooking it up the way I described is the best way to hook up the particular gear you have afaik. The fact that you loose an adat out by sending clock via adat to one of the VC-8s is irrelevant really. Try it & I'll bet it works.

Thanx I tried, but I think I found out the problem. I think my ADAT port aren't exactly working proper anymore. That's what causes the sync problems and DSP overloads
