Record TV in the PC.

I just what a cheap TV pci card. It comes with a basic sofware to record programs on diferent formats, Mpeg, Avi, DVD, but it has a problem, sometimes the sound doesn´t fit with the image. The sofware uses the TV pci driver for the image, and uses my avaible soundcard for the sound input. So I have to conect the TV sound output to the soundcard input.
I can record also with windows movie maker, but have the same problem, and also have tried VideloLan VLC. Both can see the TV card drivers and use it, and so I´m thinking if maybe can exist any other more advanded sofware to can record TV on the PC without this Sync problems Audio/image. Any idea?

You have a pci TV capture card? (didn't the first sentence)
What type of card do you have? (company and model number)
If you are recording HD material, your are probably downsampling a 48KHz audio to 44KHz which could be the cause of unmatched audio.
Clarify what card are you using.

I would also like to know what I need to see TV from Satellite dish on the PC, need I buy the receiver, or is anyway to conect directly the dish to the pc ?

I think a sattelite would come with some kind of box that connects to the tv, so if you have a tv card in your pc it would probably be able to conect to that as well?

Yes DScaler is good.
That PCI card captures analog video only.
What compression method are you using?
Are you using the commercial application to record? Does it allow you to pick a video and audio compressor?
The problem could be the combination of audio video encoders.

I can select the Video driver, and the soundcard. I tried diferent formats, Mpeg2, VCD, SVCD, DVD, but all have the same problem. I have tried with both the App that comes with the card, the windows media movie maker, the VLC videolan sofware, but all seems have the same problem. But the problem is not always the same, sometimes record ok, and sometimes the sound at one point start to go wrong with the video.
I think that what is ocurring is that the video loose some frames, or some drops occurs when processing the video and may be sound doesn´t.
I´ll try this link,and tell you about.
Regarding to the Satellite I´m not sure what signal it gives. I´ll have to ask to a store to find something more.

I capture video for use on websites every day. I use Windows Media Encoder. With that you select your capture device for video and audio, capture size, codecs, bitrate etc. Works brilliantly.

You also need to see what audio encoder is selected by default.
You should use the PCM encoder as it does not compresses the audio. You keep only neccessary processes running while encoding or as few as possible. Then you might have the dreaded problem of one interrupt being shared by two or more devices. Type msinfo32 in your Run box and see what interrupts are assigned to your card. If the card is sharing and interrupt with another device, you might have to move the card into another slot.

Now that I'm using a Core2Duo for Scope, my old P4 will serve as a MythTV box. My local dealer has a Hauppage PVR-350 ready for me - but that'll have to wait till after the release of Flexor2.

The genius in MythTV IMHO lies in the fact that it can be installed as a back-end on my local server, while all other boxes can run the front-end and as such TV will be available on the other machines in the house (2 desktops, one connected to our TV, and 3 laptops). The back-end will serve not only TV, but any media that's on the server/network: music, pictures, and even a bunch of games. All can be controlled from IR, mouse, keyboard, etc...

I've studied that subject with a workmate, who's already running such a setup. Basic MythTV boxes, like them little desktop PC's that are wasted from big offices nowadays (P4 3GHz with HT, 512MB RAM for example), can be found from about 100€. And since we're all networked, of course these mpeg's can be transferred to the Win/Mac computers that host Scope. Check out that MythTV link!

However it does not support high definition TV.
I have a MyHD card that supports high definition.

That's a nice card at0m, it does hardware compression. It compresses the video on the card as opposed to in software.

what one do you refer?

I cannot understand the Myth link, have download it but I´m not sure what to do with that rar..
