2 Pulsars Plus = 32 Midi Channels?

Post by Christos »

Hello there,

I own 2 Pulsars Plus, connected with STDM cable, running Gigastudio 2.54 & Nuendo 3 on the same computer. I recently purchased another PC which runs Gigastudio 3 Orchestra with M-Audio 410. I connected Midiman 2X2 on a USB port of the 2nd PC , so I can take advantage of the 2 ports of Giga (=32 midi channels).
The physical routing is: Master keyboard midi out - Pulsar1 Midi in. Pulsar1 midi out & Pulsar2 Midi out - Midiman midi in 1+2.
The SFP routing is: pulsar1 midi source - sequencer midi dest. Sequencer midi source - pulsar1 midi dest + pulsar2 midi dest.
The problem is that Nuendo sees only Creamware Midi in/out (like it is only one card).

I would appreciate any help,
Christos

Open a second source or dest. module... :-) Nuendo can't 'see' the hardware outs of your cards, however it does see the soft modules :-)
every module is a dedicated port in N.

Thank you for your answer.

I have opened and connected Pulsar2 analog source & dest modules and Pulsar2 midi source & dest modules, but Nuendo still doesn't "see" them.

Try this one:
Go to the menu VSTmultitrack and change the asio driver twice (set another one and then return to asio scope).

Then try to configure N as always.

Need to add Software IO - Sequencer Midi Source

this is what Nuendo will see as a midi port

Then wire that to the physical Harware IO - Midi A Dest in scope.

Hello there,

The solution was found by adding a second sequencer source & dest module.
And a final question: how do I issolate midi data transmiting to STS 5000 and not to the giga at the same time? (right now it's connected to creamware midi in/out 1)

Thanks a lot for your support.

Not sure i understand what you mean - just set them to different MIDI Receive channels on the respective devices, no?

A t the channel settings of Nuendo3 I don't see the STS device. I can see the different Midi in/out ports. So if I connect a channel to Creamware in/out (1 or 2)
there is communication with STS and with what is connected at that physical port. (at the SFP enviroment, the midi in of the STS is connected to sequencer source module 1).

Nuendo will ONLY see the sequencer source & destination pairs. What you connect them to and how you route that data (and filter it) is entirely up to you. Nuendo will ONLY ever see the software ports as they're named, not what you connect to them.

Spend a bit of time famliarizing yourself with the Scope routing environment and it will become MUCH more clear.
