yamaha 01v and pulsar 1 wordclock settings
Hi There, Happy new Year!
I'm having difficulty getting my 01v to hold hands with my pulsar card
Ive got the adat optional extra connected to an in and out of the pulsar adat connection. I've set the o1v to [option slot] in the settings which I asume is the adat card I have fitted, then in scope settings i've set it to be wordclock master.
Is this correct ?
I'm getting pops and clicks and a constant stream of digital horribleness when I record activate a stereo track in cubase.
but if I mess with the wordclock settings on the o1v ie: change it to wordclock master (with the pc still on and running) the problem dissapears
so thats why I think i'm doing something wrong with the wrodclock side of things
has anyone got the same set up?
any help would be great

My 01V is Master and my Pulsar 2's Slave.
No crackles no nothing, just good clean sound.
Remember to turn on the Yamaha BEFORE you power up Scope.

if scope is to be master, then the adat cable from the card's OUT must be connected to the o1v's IN, even if you only use the OUT from the yamaha IN to scope in your work. likewise, if the o1v is to be adat master, the OUT from the o1v must be connected to the card's IN.
as far as i can tell from your description, you are using digital clock via ADAT and the scope of o1v's settings should reflect that, depending on which is SLAVE. WORDCLOCK uses the bnc connectors. scope only uses wordclock when the sync card is added to the system. if using a wordclock and a sync cable connected to bnc's the slave device should reflect THAT(in other words, if only using optical cables to transmit digital clock, your sync settings in the slave device should say adat and not bnc or wordclock, or if using bnc, then choose that).
i hope that helps and is not just redundant info. theoreticly, you'd want to sync to the highest quality clock. luckily, both scope and the o1v have very good, accurate clocks(most devices do), so it's probably not an issue as to which is master or slave. of course there can be only one master...
if you have an extremely good stand alone master clock, then you can use the bnc connectors to sync all the possible digital devices in your studio to that same clock. that's the setup using "wordclock". it's all just digital clock, of course.... you can try it any way it works and be ok.
assuming you get master and slave working on both devices(some devices will not slave), you can always play back some recorded material(cd, whatever) and see if you notice any subtle differences, one device as master or the other...

If you're using an adat option on the O1V, bnc doesn't come into it as you can't have both on this desk.
Slave Scope to your desk via your adat connection (as Paul said). On the O1V, go to 'Setup/Wordclock select' & set the wordclock selection to 'INT 44.1k'. Set SFP to slave to it & you should be done. You said you'd already had that working though, so I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know.

The O1V we had slaved was receiving its wordclock through Scope from another O1V with the appropriate sample delay added to the slaved desks' channels (double the figure quoted for slaving one O1V to another if I'm not mistaken).
Don't worry about not having Scope as master, as it works perfectly slaved.

Gary, no wordclock or bnc sorry my fault, used the wrong word digital clock is the issue here
I think your right shroom about the o1v not liking slave, I've got things working ok now with scope as slave
but if I remember rightly, I changed things around because my PC was turning itself off during writing a song within cubase, so I thought it might be a clock issue so I changed scope to master and o1v to slave and my pc seemed to stop rebooting in the middle of things.
anyway i'm back to o1v master scope slave, but i'm now getting audio drop outs and everything seems a bit glitchy but just about ticks along. god knows what that is now grrr, its probably another issue, shouldn't be anything to do with the digital clock side of things should it? must be an asio issue
i'm running a p4 hyperthread which seems to have the power of a commodore 64, I've tried countless tweaks but just can't seem to get the most out of it
