anybody try pulsar and UAD-1 together?
I've gotten the impression that the UAD uses far less PCI bandwidth than Creamware cards.
There are supposed to be good user reports of guys running creamware + tc and creamware + uad, but no creamware+uad+tc.
If you search the cubase/nuendo forums, Ive seen various posts on these.
Having sold off 80% of my studio gear to go with one big native system + dsp cards (creamware + tc or uad) I'm very interested in hearing all the results I can.
Most seem pretty positive, especially TC + UAD in the same box.

Yeah, UAD-1 has onboard ram for the reverbs and doesn't do sampling. I hear it has very little PCI impact. It should work well with creamware. I will probably add PowerCore & UAD at some point, but I am waiting for a couple revisions to come out with XP drivers. I don't want to deal with an entirely new set of problems, and the platforms will only get better (or die heh) with time... I also have enough CW stuff to keep me busy for awhile
Since the PowerCore PC version just came out there haven't been quite as many reports about its compatibility with CW stuff yet. I'm sure that'll come w/ time. However I'm sure the UAD would be fine in a CW rig.

i find guy on net who's alredy use pulsar and uad sucesfully, with no "pci problems"! but he have latency with uad's plugs and must use some latency compesation plugs.
my friend who have rme & uad tell me that's "vst problem" and that cubase (logic) must fix this?! he tell that's uad-1 have some bugs for now, but reverb, eq and compresors sounds great!

Any update on Pulsar and the UAD-1 living happily in one box? Sandrob's post on this thread is a month old,so I was just wondering if anyone has bought the UAD in the
meantime.I'm probably just being over cautious really.I'll have a look on the Cubase forum's like Sandrob mentioned as well.
Cheer's for any help

Xantia I really think if your machine is working okay now, that adding a UAD1 would be fine. But do remember, there will always be latency on the UAD1 plugins just like VST ones. If you are used to working in the 'zero latency' routing environment of the Pulsar (as opposed to the latency-XTC mode), then that might be something to keep in mind.
Cheer's for the qick reply Sub, I'm seriously
thinking of buying it in the next couple of day's, I'll post back and let you know.
BTW, doesn't the new DSP card support in Logic 4.8.1 automatically compensate for plug latency, or am I looking at Logic V5?
Hopefully Logic won't suffer from the Async distortion when chaining effects that the SOS
review mentioned when using Wavelab.Probably fixed now anyway, the SOS review is 6 month's old now.

Found a UAD site with a forum on cubase.net if anyone's interested:

Look's like the async problem is in the past with the 2.01 driver's on the UAD http://linux1723.dn.net/forum/Forum4/HTML/004546.html
Ball's I think I'll order it tomorrow.

I've had the UAD installed about 4 day's now.
No conflict's between Pulsar and UAD.
Logic 4.8.1 supports DSP board latency compensation, find it under Audio>Audio preferences. For some reason I have to activate this each time,
saving with it checked makes no difference.
There is latency on Logic's live input's, return's and master out's tho, workaround's are available tho.It look's like using it at
mixdown on pure audio is the least aggro at the moment.Sorry no info on XP, I'm on W98.
According to other user's, Cubase is coping a
lot better with the latency problem's.Oh well, a good excuse for Logic 5 eh?
Sound wise it's sweet, EQ's and comp's partner the Pulsar very well, I still
reckon my Lex MPX100 sound's better than the realverb on the UAD tho.
Hope this help's.

Xantia you must have some different taste, but MPX100 does have its unique sound that makes you love it better.
however, the RealverbPro gives more control and more realistic color, it's also more expensive than MPX100. They are in different level.
but the UAD-1 delay problem............use more than 2,3 plugs in one chennel will makes it non real time playable....

Overall, yeah the MPX ain't outstanding, the hall, chamber and room setting's are metallic, hissy and not very nice.I do like the Plate's tho, just my opinion, each to his own.The no. of plug's increasing latency only happen's on return's and master out's.
Using track insert's there's no problem as long as latency compensation is checked in
Logic.
