VERbY

Post by MCCY »

:)

Yes, after unfinished MuBaCo another unfinished device. There are plenty finished knott-devices, now I can throw some unfinished stuff in again ;)
It's just to get an idea, what is possible in 1hour of work concerning reverbs... and believe me, I have never done such thing before (one can hear that ;) but I found that some small improvements lead to much better results... so I'll do further experiments). It's just lots of delays so far. One can easily guess why that idea came in my mind regarding some special improvements on MuBaCo.
I will not finish thisone soon, because as always I don't have much time...

Oh, it's just wonderful!!! I have to add the preset-functionality soon. No need of understanding the values. If you tweak them carefully you'll get some really great sounds which should be put into a preset-list!

Hi MC,

seriously, not bad at all....

for small amiences it seems to work very fine...

for bigger sized halls it sounds to "flattering", I mean you can hear the delay lines, .....

but the small rooms are nice....

ome explaining would be nice.... what does what do? of course I learned the most imprtant function from trying out, but there still some I don`t understand...

for a first try very good...I`ve seen much more unusable reverbs than this one...
this plug-in at some settings is sligthly similar to Lex Ambience algorithm... of course there needs to be some fine tuning...

add: this seems to be a good start for an early reflections model and you could feed this into another late reflection algo to get a very dense room/hall feeling...

and maybe you could add some additional pre EQ or/and inside_algo_EQ for further absorption shaping....

Basic principle:
Multiple short delays including feedback put behind each other.
To have different values on each of the following the delaytimes are changed by a certain factor again and again and... Therefore it is very difficult to find "good" factors, because you can choose any, even absolute nonsense-values...

Lef & right are independend.

Various possibilities of not only having delays behind each other but also mixed together... Various stages of serial (and parrallell) delays. This is what I call ALGO here.

That's it. With this informations you can build it in 30minutes.

I even got some long ones. Not very classical sounding: Loud in the beginning and then a very nice & long but silent tail. No flattering at all (but I know what you're talking about!). It all depends on the settings...

Startpreset does not sound so well in beta 0.2. For a first impression try 0.1.
But now it has preset-possibility. With 3 inserts now. One more ALGO-button.
Would be fine to see some user-presets!

I`ve tried version 03, I did some presets, but now the plug crashes when I load back the preet file....

Try loading an EQ into first PRE_SLOT and than save it to a preset.

After loading back the plug with preset file, SFT crashes... at least mine... :P

Hm. I had some crashes too & exchanged 03. Maybe you have an older version? Problem could be also that you used 02 before? Presets become dangerous, when newer version changed preset-options. Sorry, but try renaming your preset-file and use 04 with a new one. For me it worked well now.

Sorry, I hate this preset-thing. It happens with every device I do min. once :(

Cool, leave the reverb in this stage of evolution!!! I'm serious.
I really love the "crap style" reverb like this, it remember me the first digital effect boards.
I love it with Prodyssey and Pro-12. :)
Just try to transpose the commands to a somethihg more common i.e. amount, seconds of dec., wet, dry, predelay (if exist), room size, etc.

Same for me, when I make a Device in SDK I have always issues about preset handling!!! Damn :x
SDK is a dangerous game for my nerves...
4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.

Yes, that's exactly what I thought, while doing the first experiments. I think I will do even cheaper versions. My dream is to build a spring-like-cheap-verb.

This verb is definitely the perfect partner for Prodyssey!!!
All that we need now is a friendly interface/parameters and a working preset list

The first algo (first button from left is my preferred chioce.

Thanks.

Concerning the Algos:

You can combine the buttons in any way. All off is default, but any other combination works too.

Concerning the crashes:

Yes, I can confoirm this. Delete the preset file and don't use presets. Sorry. I have to rebuild it!

Verby vs (=very small). Should be much lighter on dsp or whatever and sounds less dense.

VERbY07

Try preset "d6" in preset-file VERBY3.pre ! I think one can get serious drum-verbs now. For my ears they sound extremely dense & wide in stereo!

Sorry, but I can't label the knobs more clearly VERbY is what it is a technical experiment & preset-machine and not a userfriendly reverb with length, wide, damp, dens...!

Cool, thanks. :D
It's one of my preferred verb for experimental synth sounds!

Just a couple of prayers: do you can clear the interface?
I really can't read with this color contrast. If U don't have time the standard Scope colors are ok...
And please: It's possible to have a bigger interface with bigger knobs & labels? With high resolutions it's really hard to read & understand.

Erminardi "the mole"

Thanks ;)

You're right in all points. I think I will find some time in the next two weeks.

played around with this one yesternight and had some really nice results together with sixstring... it was ver 5 or 7 i think, so can't comment on the latest version yet, but the graphics weren't exactly easy on the eye...

ah well, as long as it's easy on the ear.

thanks!
