Currently i have problems with asio in v3.01b of pulsar...lots of audio clicks, whereas in v2.04 i dind't have these anoying clicks. Latency is 7ms, but 13ms doens't seems to stop the clicks and the midi timing is sluggish at 13ms. All tweaks on I know are applied in WinME (Infinite tips,Bluelife audio tips etc...) I have a 800mhz p3, 2-2-2 512mb mushkin ram and 2 60gb ibm 7200 drives.

Someone let me know if they haven't got any clicks in WinME and at what latency they are under..I need te end this clicking now,...So tired of bad asio drivers....Thinking of buying a RME for the asio part.....Let me know

cheers,

Michiel

So, do you have System Restore removed? What motherboard do you have, and which slots are your cards in?

If you could, WinKey+Pause, Device Manager, Properties, should give a list of your used IRQs. Anything sharing an IRQ with your Creamware card?

I have a Cusl2-c board. No other cards except AGP matrox g450 (4xagp) and pulsar. SLot 2 used and IRQ 9 (only pci steering is at irq9 also, but this is normal) Latency timer to 255 and enabled.
2 imb drives, 7200 rpm, Windows ME with all tweaks applied (system restore, etc) When I boot I have 99% resources at my disposale. No programs running except Explorer and all options like DMA, Vcache, Read ahead to Off, disabale write behind cache off etc...etc. ALL. Still clicks in Logic. Latency of pulsar is set to 7ms

You tell me what i do wrong...

If you have system restore correctly removed, when you "Show All Files" you won't see a "_RESTORE" directory, and if you do see this, you can delete it without problems and it will never return. Otherwise, you don't have it removed properly.

Next, do you have "Bus Mastering" disabled on your Matrox card? Right click your desktop, properties, Display, Advanced button, Options (or similiar), it's in the Matrox driver area in here, disable Bus Mastering.

You have your PCI latency timer way too high, IMHO, I would only raise it this high, if you had some problems with the default setting of 32... maybe 64, MAYBE 128, but 255 could actually pose a problem; this could result in clicks at high CPU utilization (lower ULLI == more CPU power)

Which ASIO driver are you using inside your Pulsar V3 project? There are many new ASIO drivers now; I would avoid the 64 channel one with your latency setting, and the 32bit/float ones. Just simple ASIO2, and the fewest channels you actually need should do the trick.

Hi sub !
I will lower the pci latency timer to 32.
I have system restore properly disabled.
and bus-mastering is off.

Maybe it works now...let's hope so!
Keep you informed on this!

p.s How many tracks of audio can you run ?
And what should the asio settings (buffers) in logic llook like ? )-1 +1 0 etc..? I have version 4.81

I have now lowered latency timer to 32 but now when i move my mouse on the secondary screen cpu meter jumps up 15-20 % ! thats insane! Even on 128 it jumps after 2 secs of moving it.
What happens if I disable latency timer ??
Anyone tried this yet ?

no usb mouse here...serial mouse from microsoft.
very plain and simple. 3 buttons
I honestly think that it it not possible to get what i want on a pulsar2 card. I did all there is to do. Do you have a complete running setup at low latency 7 or less ? What's your setup ??

Actually my system runs perfectly at 4ms latency, P4TE, 1,800mHz. I can even run 3ms (1ms@96) under WinXP, but slight crackles when I switch between windows.

Before this system, I had 7ms rock solid with CUSL2, 933mhz P3. No problems with that system at all, it still gets used daily in a larger recording studio than my own

I use Pulsar1+Luna2 with ULLI@4ms all the times without any crackles with a CUSL2-C and P3-1ghz. If i have more than 20 audio tracks, i use ULLI@7ms perfectly till my PC is full... No need to go slower.

I use WinME with 512meg of CAS222 Kinston sdram, 7200 45gig IBM ata100 drive, aha2940 scsi card with 1 scsi cdrom, 1 scsi cdrw, 1 scsi dvd & 1 4.3gig scsi drive to talk to an EMU6400 sampler + 2 network cards (1 for lan + 1 for internet).

WEll i set the latency timer to 80 (from 64 to 96 then diveded 32in 2 and i get 80) optimal setting here. Further I strangly enough set the slider in pulsar preferences to little preload and voila.
