I Am An Idiot !!!!!!!

Post by Atomic Marshmallow »

Hello,

I have made recent posts regarding not being able to get Flexor going. Well, I have discovered what the problem is. Flexor resides within Modular II and Modular III. You have to actually run either of them to access (and see) Flexor. I don't know why it didn't occur to me before. The mistake I made was to assume it to be visible as a seperate device under one of the various menus in the Scope environment. I feel like a total idiot !!! I have Flexor going now.

My apologies for bothering you with this "problem" and thanks to all the people who responded and tried to help.

well, that's what you were told, but if you don't want to read it... :P

You do not see anything from Flexor unless you open a Modular window - then it should appear at the leftmost position...
anyway, have fun with it :D

cheers, Tom

I guess you did say that, but I didn't read it properly. You said:

I didn't realise that you meant that I actually have to run Modular 2 or 3. But I guess I should have at least opened up Modular rather than assuming it would show as a seperate device.

I am not being defensive by the way, just explaining why I didn't get it.

Anyway, thanks for your help. Very much appreciated!!!!!!!

yes, there is really no need to be defensive - I once asked CW tech support for some details about VDAT (which they even mailed...), while I (better my ignorance) had overlooked it in the SFP manual.
I'm very familiar with this 'quick overlook by reduced concentration powered by increased rush' phenomenon, that's why I made the humorous hint :)

Hah - i can beat you all. When i first delved into the world of Pulsar i didn't really understand what i was buying (nor did the salesman). CW's marketing was even more confusing back then than it is now. Anyway i bought a Pulsar2 and a PowerSampler, which was fine except i only bought PowerSampler because i thought you needed that card to run the sampler, not realising that it would just act as extra DSP to the Pulsar2, which already had STS300 - the same sampler. i bought a whole card i didn't need. Duh (slaps forehead).

I just had slightly more luck (... nothing affordable was available back then), when I 'almost' bought an Adat HD recorder for what VDAT can do - but I was completely unaware of... :P
I always had this idea it must be something for the real world Adat folks...

this thread could be extended with more 'unsolvable problems' like that

cheers, Tom

I once bought me a Pulsar2 card to make music - then I discovered you can just buy ready made music in cd shops!!

The same happend when I bought Vinco, I played around over 4 hours and didn`t hear any sounds out of it. I thought "what a shitty vintage synth emulation is this?"

Suddenly I realized that it is not a synth but a compressor and so I stopped sending midi notes to it.

 :P

like me when comparing the B2003 to Natives B4 (which I already owned).
First impression was that the CWA version sounded fuller, but I wanted to know exactly, so I stepped through the corresponding presets, A/B ing...
Suddenly, it was the B4's turn, I wondered why I hadn't noticed this great preset before, strange, pretty full tone for a NI device which always have this 'slim' tendency (imho) ... undeniable - this was good, wanted to make a note to remember it - and what do I see ?
I had forgot to switch the mixer channel - it was the B2003, pretending to be a B4 :o

That's what I call a blind test, Tom :D
