I Still Can't Get Flexor Going-Please Help.

Post by Atomic Marshmallow »

Hello,

Sorry to be a nuisance, but I still haven't managed to get Flexor going. I downloaded the manual, but when I try to unzip it it says file is corrupted and won't open. I downloaded it again and still the same message.

I placed the Flexor files in C:/Scope_4_5.

Is that right? I don't have an OXE file from Creamware just an allkeys.skf file. I don't see how I can download an OXE file from the Creamware ftp site. Am I supposed to have an OXE file? What I have done is download the files from the Adern site, unzipped them and placed them as I said above.
What have I done wrong or missed out on doing? Please help. Preferably a step by step explanation.

I should add that I also bought the Dynatube bundle from Creamware too, but I succeeded in getting that going no problems. So I am not totally stupid.

you sort of have it right.
here's the oxe. change the extension to oxe for it to work.
you want to unzip the Adern files into the scope directory not just put them there. if you put them there manually, you maust put each file into the proper folder(as in the zip).

Hi Garyb,

The file you asked me to download totally screwed my system. What was it?
I followed all your instructions to the letter and then Pulsar wouldn't start anymore (or maybe it was running in the background because when I tried to delete the file it wouldn't as it said the file was being used by a program and I had to shut down the program, which I couldn't do). I rebooted, the same problem. I couldn't see Pulsar anymore and couldn't get to it. I had to go into SAFE MODE to delete the file you gave me. Then everything went back to normal but still I can't get Flexor going.

My system obviously didn't like that file at all !! I have to say that my first reaction was that it was a virus, but my scanner didn't detect it and I thought that maybe you were sick of helping incompetent fools like me. But then I doubted you would send me a virus and you are probably the most helpful person on this site, so why would you purposely send me malicious code(excuse me for momentarily thinking that)?

But the fact remains that I can't get Flexor going. I have read other threads regarding the issue and followed the instructions. Though I have never seen mention of .oxe files. I didn't get one, just an allkeys.skf file. There is no .OXE file for Flexor on the Creamware ftp site or on the Adern site either. So if you don't mind me asking, where did you get the file you gave me?

Thanks in advance for your response.

if I remember this right you extract the .zip file containing the Flexor stuff into your SFP directory (with the path option of the respective un-zipper on)
Then it will create a Flexor Folder within your modular modules folder and copy the file ADXFLX or so into the DSP folder.

You do not see anything from Flexor unless you open a Modular window - then it should appear at the leftmost position.

dunno what this oxe file does, maybe it just enters the serial to the allkeys - ignore it for the moment, just do the extract, restart SFP, open a Modular and verify the Flexor Menu is installed in the Modular Menu, not(!) the main SFP. I'll check which DSP file it is and can upload it to this post, in case the file Gary sent you didn't work (it may have done it's job, but failed on removing itself)

cheers, Tom

i got the file from the ftp site.
as astro said, i don't think it's a nessessity.
it does need to be renamed adern_flexor_nokeys.oxe to be useable.

Hello again,

Sorry to be a nuisance but I still haven't managed to get things going. Let me explain step by step EXACTLY what I have done and hopefully someone can see what I have done wrong and explain with idiot proof instructions what I should do.

1) I downloaded 3 files from Adern site. Flexor v.1.0, v.1.5 and v.1.5 fix.

2) I unzipped the files and placed them on a usb key to transfer them to my PC with Pulsar installed (my music machines are not connected to internet)

3) Then I exited Scope and manually placed the v.1.0 folder in C:/scope_4_5 folder. I didn't place it into any sub folders, but directly into the path I just said.

4) Then I manually placed the 1.5 update into the same path and it replaced all the duplicate files. I did the same with the 1.5 fix.

5) I started up Scope and I could see no sign of Flexor. So I rebooted just in case that was necessary to do. Still nothing.

6) I tried the file Garyb uploaded for me but that screwed up my system as I explained in an earlier post.

As far as I know, I have done everything I needed to, so I don't understand why there is no Flexor at all. Hopefully someone out there can see what I have done wrong and explain to me what I should have done differently. If I have done something wrong, I hope someone can explain with idiot proof instructions and with the detail I have just gone into.

Excuse my ignorance and my apologies if I am being "annoying", but I really would appreciate your help.

Once again thanks in advance for your reponses.

PS. Garyb, I didn't manage to find the file you uploaded on the Creamware or Adern ftp site. Can you supply a link please? I found it really strange it totally screwed up my system.

 i just got it a couple of weeks ago off the creamware site and now i can't find it again. it was in an optional plugins oxe folder. it worked just fine on another computer just last week(the manager of pro music exchange's computer no less). sorry it didn't work for you. exactly what name does that file have now? my guess is that it's adern_flexor_nokeys.oxe.txt. you might not see the extra txt extension is you haven't uncheck "hide externsions for known file types" in the folder options' veiw menu. you can get there buy right clicking on start, choosing "explore" and then "folder options" under the "tools" menu at the top of the windows explorer window.

no, you have unzipped the folders improperly. you should remove all adern files and start over. take the zipped files and unzip them into your scope folder. that way the proper files will be put into the proper subdirectories. flexor should work then after asking for the key when you place your first module into the modular shell.

i hope this helps...

I did it as you asked originally. The file name is adern_flexor_nokeys.oxe. I changed my viewing options to allow me to view extentions before I made the change to .oxe from .txt. so I didn't make that error. So .txt extention is not included in the file name.

Well, I will try again tomorrow (rather later on today). It is almost 5.15 in the morning and I should get some sleep (luckily I have Mondays free). I will start from scratch and this time I will unzip the files directly into the C:/Scope_4_5 folder rather than unzipping them and then placing the extracted files into that path (if you know what I mean).

Thanks again for your response Garyb and for doing your best to help out. It is very much appreciated!!!
