Well, not really a problem but...

an annoyance at most. i've clearing up my HD a bit - although i haven't deleted anything from my SCOPE installation - although i did delete some stuff from some older back-up files. The problem:

i have created my own device folders called xEffects, xSynths, xTools where i put all my SCOPE freebies. This way they are not in the regular Effects, Synthes folders and they also appear far right on the menu bar. Until today all was fine, but now i've been clearing up a bit some of the devices appear oddly in the drop down menu.

With some of the devices i can see the .dev or .mdl and i can't drag them into the project. All other devices are fine (CW, Space F, Zarg etc.)- it's just some of the free ones - not all by a long shot. Is there anything on a PC that i could have deleted that would account for this? Does SCOPE not like manually created folders in the Devices folder - is this something you're not supposed to do?

Also, as an aside - and i had this before i was spring cleaning - in the drop down folders (xEffects etc.) i've created there appears a bit of text "icon_" as if it were a device. If i go into the folder there's nothing there - so where's that coming from?

Come on you PC gurus - i'm sure this an easy one. :D

no, you should be able to create folders to your heart's conent...

you deleted something or something became corrupted. i'd try reinstaslling scope over the top of your present install. that should rewrite the cset.ini and other files that control such things and should clear up your problems without trashing any of your personal files. don't unistall, just reinstall over the top.

If i reinstall over the top will it overwrite the DSP files? i seem to have the biggest problems with these. For instance i recently did a reinstall which fixed my inserts bug. However i just tried the SL9000 demo today and was told i was missing a DSP file. i had a hunt around one of my old back-ups and there was the file - it was missing from the fresh install (i did a complete unistall/reinstall that time). i suppose the easy answer is to just back it up - just wondered - likewise the Presets file, does that get overwritten with a re-install?

well, backing those files up is a really good idea, but the only files overwritten should be the ones that are already in the install files. the files that you have added shouldn't be effected.

Well i just tried a re-install and it's the same. Very odd. i tried trashing the cset.ini file too. i'm out of ideas. Also dunno what this "icon_" thing means either.

i was thinking that - although you know how it is with freebies, you're never quite sure where you got them from - hopefully i have some zip files somewhere. The odd thing is, for example wavelength's devices are all fine exceot for two - and they're all in the same folder from the original bundle download. Oh, well - let's see what i can find.
