Timewasting

Post by wayne »

This is a sketch of a bluesy tune Simon brought around the other night.

Also my first proper vdat session - although i had the windows open with two highways streaming past, not exactly audiophile, but it's not a finished product.

Writing process for this so far - Simon played piano & sang the tune to me, i went away and played an improvised bass line on tuba, which i then transcribed to paper. Turn off DAW and write two trombone lines, hopefully complimentary to the tuba.

DAW back on, record bones (or "the Golden Handbrake" as i heard recently :) ),
then some 1 mic guide drums - i'll use a real drummer later. Then Simon.

All done one at a time through a NT2.

So, just an initial sketch, everything needs work, but it's good to have this big set of tonsils back in town :D

fan-tas-tic... Image
I mean it :-)
edit: it's kinda music that should sound like you did get it.
It won't win with a serious production, if you'd add a little typical bar-rumour from a sample cd you'd get your favorite life session of deep-river-Joe and his life horns section, before the katrina clash that is.

That guy sure has a huge set of lungs ( and tonsils)
I got drunk on the brass - didn't really notice bloopers either - but I was drunk :D

Cool

I wish they would play the Tuba here in Bavaria like you.
Nice sketch so far, looking forward for the final mixdown.
