At this moment the CD charger in my car holds Iron Maiden’s “Somewhere in Time”.
I don’t expect many maiden fans in planetz, but to me the sound of this particular album is really special. There were a couple of years in the 80’s that metal bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. decided to use synths in their albums. And I’m not talking about keyboards. This was the time for midi guitars. Even Deep Purple who already have Jon Lord on keyboards, used midi guitar in “House of the Blue Light” around those years.
Back to “Somewhere in Time”, the sound of the album has always been special to me, since it definitely is a metal album, but there are many synth sounds which in my opinion blend perfectly with the guitars. I haven’t heard that sound in any other album.

Some people... some people like cupcakes exclusively, while myself, I say
There is naught nor ought there be nothing so exalted on the face of gods grey
Earth as that prince of foods... the muffin!
